oK friends I need some serious help here.

I am freaking out a little bit. I had salad for dinner, about 2 minutes after I finished I got an awful pain in my chest. Now my salivary glands are working overtime and saliva is literally pouring out of my mouth!! I know TMI. What the heck is going on. The pain is still there, but has lessened some and I can kinda feel piece of food moving through the stoma..I feel awful. I am sitting here with a towel under my skin running like a faucet.. what is happening to me and how can I stop it??!! Please Please help..thanks..

Hey Pam,

Sounds like the typical....something is stuck! It'll pass! The pain is horrible but it WILL pass!

If it doesn't pass on it's own or if you don't vomit on your own, Put a finger down your throat and get rid of it!

Just don't make it a habit because it can become a very bad habit.

Before this happens again, by some Papaya Enzyme (GNC). You chew three of those (they taste great) and it helps relieve the symptoms.

You'll be fine!

Call me if you're having more problems and need to talk!

I still have problems with food and saliva, especialy chicken.  If I eat too fast and too much because it;'s something I really like.  Then, like you said, 10 minutes later, you start to get the saliva and the pain.  I still end up sticking my fingers down  my throat and bringing it up.  Oh it feels so good.  I try and chew everything really well and TRY wait 5 or ten min when I am getting full and wait for it to go down. I think it's what you eat gets sort of stuck and the opening and then everything else backs up in the throat.  Thats what it feels like to me.  I have been out almost 3 years and still have that feeling with some food, but not salad.  I use very very litle dressing if any on my salad.  That makes a differnce.  Candy seems to go down all too well......thats something I have to try and behave with.  Not choclate, but non choclate candy goes down too good.  I wish I had some type of dumping when I eat that but but I dont.  It's only with some proteins, and fats, that make me sick.

Does anyone have no problem with candy?

Hey Carol,

So far, I have been very sensitive to dumping. And I'm very grateful for that! So, no candy for this chicky.

The closest I get to any candy is my protein bar every so often.

I even dump on most fruits.

Forget about fats, Whoa! I'm lucky to be able to eat cheese on most days!

Later!

Jules

wow thats something, even on fruits......I dont blame you.  You've only been out of surgery for 10 months or so.  Things do change after awhile.  It will be 3 yrs for me in May.  The pouch does get a little bigger, and you can handle more foods, but chicken and at times eggs, seems to be the worst for me.  I dont crave chocolate anymore....thank GOD!!!

thanks for responding...Jules..
