Becky,
I'm the queen of "psyche" issues from my pshychologists perspective so I totally understand what you're going through. I had to get another letter from my psyche stating that I'm Ok for surgery. I also got another one from a doc I've seen for the passed 4 yrs which stressed my compliance with visits and other issues brought up on my eval. Dr Sax office stated that the letters were very reinforcing and submitted to my insurance today. Hope to have a date by the end of next week.
Keep your chin up and look forward for the good times to come~~~~~~Kim

Hi Becky.
I know exactly how you feel. I had that woman twice and I can't stand her. My first time was for my band and she spent less than 5 minutes with me and said Dr. Pohl would get her response. Then when I was being revised to RNY I had to go for the psych eval again and ended up with that witch. She told me I was an alcoholic who failed at WLS. I went through the roof.
My hubby & I go out dancing and for dinner on the weekends, I probably have 5 - 7 martinis a MONTH, not per day so how the heck does that make me an alcoholic???? Also I had complications with my band and was bringing up blood & pb'ing 12 times a week. Had already had surgery to adjust my band, and once unfilled I did gain 51 lbs back. She totally discounted the fact that I still had lost over 100 lbs and kept it off, she just kept saying "I failed at weight loss surgery" and wouldn't listen. I told her I found what she was saying to be out of line and was offended and her reply was "whatever" and she kept talking.
That witch sent a letter to Dr. Pohl and BCBS saying she didn't recommend me for WLS. I have a counselor I see once a month and has been seing me since 2005. She wrote a letter to Dr. Pohl and BCBS and fortunately I was approved. I sent a letter to BCBS and the hospitals affiliated with that practice about the treatment received by her. Of course no one ever responded.
Just remember she doesn't have the final say.

Ya Becki I two was not thrilled with my psy. exam. The woman in the morning was fine but the woman in the afternoon was cold very cold. She was of Indian decent but I don't remember her name. She cleared me but told me RNY was just a band-aid fix and I would gain all my weight back in approx. five years.
Don't worry about the psy just listen to your Dr's and yourself. Just because we are overweight doesn't make us crazy!
