For Patients of Dr. Pohl & Dr. Giovanni.....
Is it me, or is their office staff really rude and not helpful at all?! I'm sorry, I am not usually a negative person, but it just seems every time I call they act like I am bothering them and cannot wait to get me off the phone. Don't even get me started on how I am usually calling to follow up on something they were supposed to call me about and never did...............URGH..............

Liza.....I feel the same way , I actually talked to the manager Elaine and she had to calm me down about how someone was suppost to call me with a date and I waited 4 days, before demanding to get the date.... They are the rudest office staff I have ever dealt with. I actually was doubting weather I should go thru with surgery or not due to the fact if something is going right and I need to call do i really want to talk to this *****y women...excuse my french....
Then wait until your scheduled appointment and you have to buy the shakes from them and they dont have them in stock , so I had to drive across ATwood ave to the other office to get them... they are just not helpful or nice....I agree.....

Liza sorry you had such a bad experience.
Elaine is wonderful. When I first went there in 2006 I wasn't overly thrilled about an experience and posted so on the board. She called me and took care of it (it was with scheduling my endoscopy) and that was the only hiccup I had with the office.
I hope things getting better for you. They have some wonderful people working there and Carol who does the insurance approval has worked wonders for me on a few occassions. Have you gone to the E. Providence office? The girl who works the desk there is the best and is always pleasant and helpful.

If it makes you feel any better, because misery loves company right, unprofessional office staff is not limited to Dr. Pohl's office. I am a patient of another surgeon and have had many, many, many bad experiences with his office staff too. I think the reality is, to us, this is our health, our wellbeing and our life. To them, we are just another person on the phone giving them more work to do. That is a sad commentary, I know.
Try to keep the faith. I was banded only 3 weeks ago and don't regret any of it (even the hard times I'm still getting from the office folks). Bottom line is, if you like and trust the doctor you have to deal with the staff. Sucks, I know. But chaulk this up to being part of the "dues" you need to pay in order to make this big step..
Good Luck!

Thanks for your note Robyn! I kind of looked at things like you said, that if I want a great surgeon, I just need to put up with the office staff unfortunately. Ultimately it is all worth it, I know!
