I'm looking for advice, support, similar stories and/or symptoms that I can report to my Dr.

For the 2nd winter in a row, I'm trying to recover from pneumonia and a partial lung collapse on the left.
After last winter's pneumonia, the lap-band surgeon and the pulmonary specialist determined that reflux caused gastritis resulting in a too tight band, causing aspiration pneumonia. Band was mt'd, stomach rested, and refilling began. Finally, by early December '08 I was feeling good restriction, losing weight again, and having no feelings of reflux or stomach irritation.
I am 21 months post banding, having lost 75 lbs, need to lose 40 more to be at goal, but would settle at the 75 if I have to. All of the weight loss happened BEFORE the 1st pneumonia, I've been in a holding pattern for 1 year!!!
I am NOT experiencing any of the reflux symptoms I've had in the past, medication keeping it under control. I haven't had a PB in months, the few lbs I gained while un filled are gone, and I'm starting to drop more weight.

I DON'T WANT ANOTHER UNFILL!!!! :(

I have a 10cm Inamed band that holds 4cc, presently filled with 1.25cc (highest amt 1.50cc)

ANY HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!!

Patty :D

Hey Pat

Glad to hear from you.  I would stay where you are.  You may have a problem if you get back to 1.5 As long as its staying off, you shouldn't need a fill.

Pat - I just read your recent post on your profile.  You are way off base saying that you are not a member of the right clique because you did not get more responses from the RI board.

Everyone here is really nice and supportive.  Maybe everyone is not really sure of what it is you want exactly.  If people have not had a band, they cannot give you advice on your situation.  If people have had the band but have not had similar problems, then they cannot give you stories that are similar.  You cannot squeeze water from a dry towel.

When I read this when you first posted I had no idea what it was you were looking for, and I still don't.  I am not trying to be rude, but I am really unsure of what it is you are asking from everyone.  The font you used is also very small and difficult to read.  I know a lot of people pass over things they cannot read.

It seems like you got ill, you are getting better, and losing weight so what is the problem?  I am honestly confused.

If you read the recent post on my profile, where on earth did you get  "It seems like you got ill, you are getting better, and losing weight so what is the problem?  I am honestly confused."
I am having a bronchoscopy with biopsies on Friday, due to aspiration. I've had pneumonia and a fever for 8 weeks---all being blamed on my Lap-band. I just wondered if any other LONG TERM banders had any issues like this.
My blog is MY area to vent and not cause a riot. Taking 1 comment out of context, and posting it on the forum is not being fair to me.

I got that from this thread from when you said

"I am NOT experiencing any of the reflux symptoms I've had in the past, medication keeping it under control. I haven't had a PB in months, the few lbs I gained while un filled are gone, and I'm starting to drop more weight."

So to me, it sounded like you were getting better.  I am sorry that you are not and that you are having problems with your band.

I did not take that comment out of context at all.  I think you felt you were being snubbed and you clearly stated that.  I did not mean to cause you issue, I am just saying that it is not true - there are no cliques and everyone is really supportive.

I really did not understand your first post and maybe other people didn't either.

Anyway, sorry about getting you upset, that was not my intention.

Have you posted on the complications, regrets or revisions forums? (maybe even the failed WLS forum) Maybe there will be others in those areas that have had the same problems as you.  It seems like complications are not the norm so it might be difficult to find other stories in such a small area (RI).  Maybe even posting on the MA forum too.

Again I am sorry that you are going through the pain and trouble you are dealing with.

Johanna,
Again you are taking one statement out of context.
The thread starts off asking for help from
long term lap-banders. Then I report that I have UNRESOLVED PNEUMONIA and a COLLAPSED LUNG (unresolved ie: won't go away)

I know this is a place of great support, I've been here over 2 years. That's why I asked for the help.
Maybe once you have you're WLS, and actually feel how your body changes you won't be so quick to judge others. It feels like you were looking to stir up trouble.

I was just telling you why I thought what I thought...  not saying that was what you said but why I thought it sounded like you were getting better.  My intention was not to stir trouble.  I really am sorry that you have to deal with all these problems due to the band.  It is like you are getting cheated out of the life you thought you were getting and I am sympathetic to that.

I was not judging you at all.  I was defending this board because of something you wrote, that is all.  Then I was just saying that maybe you didn't get the response you wanted because your post was a little confusing or because your problems are so specific, maybe there is no one on this board that has gone through what you are dealing with.  I do not think people were intentionally ignoring you.

So again I am sorry you felt that way, it was not my intention and I truly hope that your problems get resolved.  I know it is no fun not knowing what is wrong with you and feeling like you are all alone.
