I'm going to my first Seminar on wednesday. It  is with Dr Sax. Has anyone had him for surgery. Did you like him/dislike him? I feel so nervous and I'm not sure why. LOL

Congrats on your seminar Tiffany. I have known a few people who had Dr Sax but I'm afraid I cant give you any info there because I havent met him personally. My advice would be to reasearch all the doctors in the area, and go with who YOU feel most comfortable with.
I had Dr Pohl and would highly recommend him to anyone, I trust him with my life (literally!) so if you have any questions about him, I would be happy to answer them for you.
Best of luck in the seminar and make sure you post any questions you have!

I agree with Angela,  go to different ones and pick the one you like best.  I had Dr. Giovanni ( same office as Dr. Pohl) and I think she is awesome.  And the reason you are nervous is because this is a big, life changing journey and you want to do whats best for you.  Good luck!  Your doing the right thing.  Hopefully someone with Dr. Sax will get to answer your posting.

Tiffany ~ Hello there.  Dr. Sax was my surgeon and will also be operating on my brother.  He and I have both had positive experiences with him and his support staff.
Do agree with other posters, you need to ask many questions, do your research and then be comfortable as you move forward.
Part of what came into the decision for us too, was where the surgery would actually happen.  In our family, we had previous experiences with the Miriam and felt comfortable receiving post-op care there.
Feel free to send a PM my way with any questions.  Good luck on Wednesday.
~ Sandy

Tiffany, I agree with all of the posters. I work in a hospital so I didn't want my surgery there(privacy issue) and I heard all wonderful things re: the affiliated hospital so I chose my surgeon based on that.So far I have nothing but great things to say about the staff........haven't had my surgery yet but I feel totally comfortable with whom I chose. Just go with your gut, because all of the local surgeons are qualified as far as board standards go.............Kim

Hi Tiffany!

I think whomever you decide upon will be someone you trust and respect. That's what it's all about. I think you will feel better once you've gone to the seminar and have learned more about how Dr. Sax does things. I'm sure you'll also have an opportunity to ask questions as well.

I know several friends who have chosen Dr. Sax and they are very happy and satisfied with their choice.

Do you have someone who will go to the seminar with you? It really helps to have someone else there to hear/make notes on the things you may miss.

Jules

P.S. Did you get my email?

I did get your e-mail jules, thank you. Unfortunately I will be going alone. My husband is not very supportive right now and I don't feel comfortable sharing this with anyone else. My mother is another state and that leaves me to go alone. Thats ok. I'm looking forward to meeting Dr. Sax and starting this process. Thanks for all of the support that I am getting here, it means alot to me.

I'm sorry to hear your husband isnt very supportive Tiffany...and its too bad you have to go alone to the seminar, if I could..I would offer to go with you, but I'm away too much with my classes right now to leave hubby alone with the kids more than I am already.
Have you thought about having your husbad go to a support group with you? My husband was against me having the surgery in the begining and it REALLY helped when he was able to talk to another husband, He became the biggest support and has been wonderful!! Granted, he didnt want to go to a support group, but we had another couple come over and we just got together and had a nice evening talking and that seemed to make him relax. But I think maybe talking to another husband whos been in his place might help. Maybe you could get him to go bowling Saturday..or there is the gathering here at my house on the 3rd Saturday of the month thats a lot less formal than a support group. If theres anything I can do just let me know!

Tiffany, feel confident in your surgeon. Though i didnt have Dr. Sax,  i have had to talk to him regarding an off hours questions. very professional, and personable.  I am a patient of Dr. V.  I can not say enough about Dr V. and his abaility.  I ad surgery on Monday 2/23 and I feel great  !
Little or NO pain, and the only pain I do have is from where they took out the JP drain which was yesterday.
Feeling this way is VERY normal. i was SO SCARRED  of the D word..
Be true to your decision, and make sure you feel confortable with it !
Congrats on you journey ! Its a great journey !
