Finished my pre-op visits!! I think......
I had my last pre-op visit today - woo hoo!! I am happy to report that I lost 6 lbs since my last visit there, only 6 days ago! She was thrilled and is now writing me a glowing letter of release and recommendation for the surgery :)
I have now had my gallblatter ultrasound, endoscopy, 2 psych visits, 3 nutritionist vists and a partridge in a pear tree .
I called Dr. G's office to make my next appt, but the nurse said she is missing 2 reports, so now I have to track those down before she will give my chart to Dr. G for review and clearance for my next visit with her. Not a big deal, but more to test my patience
Anyway, the only thing I am a little concerned about now is this: I had a sleep study done almost a year ago now. It was determined that I had sleep apnea, but I never went back to be fitted for the mask, since I didn't want to wear it. When the nurse was reviewing my chart, she mentioned that she thinks Dr. G might make me get the CPAP machine so that I can wear it in the hospital when I go. This doesn't make any sense to me since I don't wear it now, but we'll see what she says. She is going to give her my chart and see if she says anything about that. It might be ok because when I met with Dr. G the first time I told her I have sleep apnea but don't use the CPAP and she didn't say anything about it. I am hoping that's a good sign if she didn't mention it at that point.
Anyway, that's pretty much the only thing that can possibly really delay things for me at this point (as long as I maintain my weight loss to show Dr. G as well). If I have to be fitted for the CPAP it's going to require another sleep study and I know those take literally months to get an appt for.
*sigh* nothing is ever easy, is it?

If you need to have the sleep study again, do not despair!! I was given a sleep study with 1 week of scheduling when I had mine in August!!! You never know! When you go, just ask the ladies if there are any cancellations, or a cancellation list... ask with a smile and be super gracious with any answer they give you... they will remember the sweet woman first!
yeah..what she said...just tell them to call you if they get a cancellation..i did and got my sleep study a month sooner than they were going to schedule it....as far as the test results..i had all of the doctors send me a copy of the preop results..so i had everything..and when something was missing i went to my little file and whipped it out...
Congrats!! Also, make sure for the sleep study if you have to do it that you're open to going to another location if its open. I had mine at Newport and it was scheduled immediately!
Also, keep on those reports....The office staff at the office has so much going on it can get lost in the shuffle, so make sure you follow up and stay on them!! I think I drove them nuts during pre-op, but trust me, they get over it and now when I walk in they are all chatty with me!

Wow, you're really getting thru this fast. Thats great! I know it can get very frustrating at times. Everytime I thought I was going to get a date, I got a call of having to have something done cuz the old one is outdated or what have you. But it does all finally come together. And the day WILL come. Just keep telling yourself that the timing will be right when it happens. Congrats on your success! Eldy
