Newbie here.

Hi, I'm Tiffany. I'm new to this forum and I just wanted to say Hi! I am just beginning to consider WLS and I don't know exactly which way to turn. I have been researching for about 1 year on and off. I'm scared and confused but I suffer from some Autoimmune disorders and I need to get this weight off of my joints. I have tried just about every weight loss diet known to man and I believe that this is my only hope. I am confused about procedures and what surgeon to choose but I have been lurking here for awhile and this seems like the place to be for support and possibly some answers.  I can't wait to get to know the members here.

Also, do you know there are many support groups in Rhode Island that you can attend even prior to making your decision?

That's my unsolicited recommendation -- keep reading and researching until you feel comfortable with the decision that's right for you!

Hi Tiffany - Welcome!!! My name is Liza and I am fairly new here myself. I am 35, married with two daughters ages 8 and 5 and we live in Cranston. I am presently going through all my pre-op testing and hoping to get a date really soon for my procedure. The people here are WONDERFUL and I would HIGHLY recommend coming to a support group meeting. You can meet people in person who have had the surgery, who are waiting for it, thinking about it, etc. and get tons of info. This is also a great resource!

 Welcome Tiffany!  You have come to the right place.  Most of us can relate to you.  We have tried every diet known to man kind.  I had my surgery October 28, 2008. It was the best thing I could have done for myself. I only wish I did it sooner.  Everyone is so helpful.  Good luck !

Welcome Tiffany......this is where I started and I've learned SSSOOOO much from people. They also let you cry at support meetings and don't make fun of you I have never felt so "part of" anything in a long time. I've got 1 more pre-op and then meet with RNP to go over tests- then hopefully acceptance and surgery!!!!! Hey Tiffany, again welcome!  Im fairly new myself, and just starting the journey.  I have yet to go to a support group but am planning on going to the bowling lanes on 3/7.   Get all the info you need here, at the support groups and at the doctor's seminar at Roger Williams hospital.
