My surgery is March 24th for gastric! I'm excited but also need some info from anyone who can help me...

Has anyone used protein shakes other than the ones offered in the doctor's office? If so, does anyone have any suggestions for shakes that are within the calorie and protein range but taste decent? Thanks for your help in advance!

Hi Robyn,

Congratulations on getting your surgery date!

My most favorite shakes in the World are the Nectar shakes by Syntrax! You can order samples for $1.99 each at www.vitalady.com !

I also like the Pure Protein cans for on-the-go and at home when I am just too lazy or tired to mix a shake myself.

If you come to the Living Life Group on Wednesday, February 18th, I'll bring them all for everyone to sample and check 'em out!

Congrats!! I am jealous!!

So far the best is the Syntrax Necatrs - Twisted Cherry.  It had no weird aftertaste at all!! There chocolate truffle was not bad but I am looking for a yummier chocolate one.  (anyone have one?) If you email the company they will give ayou a great deal 13 full size samples for 9.99 including shipping! That is what I have done.  I still have not tried them all yet.  Carribean cooler was good too - like a virgin pina colada.  Would be good mixed with crushed ice in the summer!

Hey Robyn, congratulations on your date!  I am having mine on Feb 24th.  I know it felt like it would never get here.  I don't like the ones ( except the fruity ones) at the doc's office.  I did get approval from Dr. Pohl for this kind of whey protein shakes I buy at Target for 13.99.  It called Body Fortress Advance Whey Protein.  52g of Protein for 2 scoops ( I use 1 scoop - 26g protein, 130 calories, 2g carb.). It comes in a huge container.  I make it with water and ice and blend it in the blender and make a smoothie.  I really like it. Comes in Vanilla (great with a banana) and chocolate.  If you don't like it, let me know.  We can make arrangements.  Good luck to you!!   Eldy

I like Labrada brand. It's available at Vitamin Shoppe. Basically, look to something around 100 calories a serving with low carbs low fat and no to very low sugar.
