Why no Milk
I've started using Dailyplate.com, and found out there's a lot of sugar even in 1% milk. So, I've got to adjust my protein shakes accordingly. It's still a good source of protein. You just have to moderate your consumption I'm thinking.

Hi John!
Sue has a great answer for you and it's also best (once we can handle solids) to get our protein from solids rather than liquids.
Solid proteins will stay in our pouches much, much longer, therefore, satiating our hunger longer. And if we need to drink our protein in order to get all the protein we need for the day, it's best to have an actual high protein shake instead of a glass of skim milk.
For example:
Skim Milk: 8 oz = 80 Cals = 8 gms protein
vs
Nectar Shake: 8 oz = 90 Cals = 23 gms protein
Feel free to add milk to any meal and/or any shake you desire to add more protein. That's perfectly fine. In fact, I use 2 tablespoon of fat free half & half in my decaf coffee (= 1 gm protein).
You can also add evaporated skim milk (2 TB = 20 cals = 2 gms protein) or some powdered skim milk (2 TB = 25 cals = 2 gms protein) if you're interested in adding more protein here and there.
Just have to weigh the values of Calories vs Protein when considering what you eat or drink.
I think you get the gist of things.
Hope to see you again soon!
Jules
P.S. There's a support group meeting at Rhode Island Hospital this coming Wednesday if you're interested! A great place to bring up that question!
