I had surgery on 1/20. After I left the hospital on 1/23, I was a bit tired. The past two days I have been extremely fatigued.  I lost 16 pounds since 1/23. I have been taking my multis and have managed to take 40 oz of water in addition to the 16 to 24 oz of water with my shakes.

Well, Jeri, welcome to the group!   Don't forget your body has gone through alot of trauma.  It is probably in shock and not too happy right now.  Just do the best you can getting your nutrition and sometimes your body knows best and needs to rest.  But since I haven't had the surgery yet, I am sure someone here will have some great advice for you.  Take it easy!  Your pal,  Eldy                     Kiai

Hey Jeri,
Welcome to the site.  You have come to the right place to ask anything.  To your question Yes it is very normal to be exhausted.  You just had Surgery.  You could feel tired for a while.  I know with me the 1st  month I felt like a truck knocked me over.  Not  sick but just dragged out.  Slow moving. That is normal.  Just keep walking as much as you can sip sip sip sip .......  walk walk walk .......  two big things to keep doing.  As the time goes on it does get better.   I had gastric bypass in april 2008.  I have lost 171lbs so far.  I feel it was the best thing ever I have done in my life.  Now I can say that  ask me back then I might had told you differant.  Because of feeling so exhausted.  I can remember in my living room crying saying WHY DID I DO THIS?  I know why now to live my life healthy and worth living.   Congrats on your surgery.  May your journey be as good for you as mine is for me.  Another great tip  to doing so well after surgery is I know for me GO to the Support Groups you can learn so much from them , from others.

Welcome again,
Lisa

Hi and Welcome!

The first two months or so, I was totally exhausted!

Our bodies go through so much between the surgery and the drop in calories! It seemed like everything I did was a chore.

Once I got through that, the energy came and I have been on a roll since then!

It's so good you're getting all your fluids and vitamins in! That'll help. I'm assuming you're getting all your protein in as well. This will help.

Also, even though you're tired, once your doc says you're okay to do so, Move, Move, Move! Walk and/or exercise each day. Believe it or not, it will make you feel less tired. And will help excelerate your weightloss. Get those endorphins going!

Happy to hear from you! Hope you are on here often! If you would like a list of Weight Loss Surgery Support Groups in Rhode Island, please email at [email protected]!

Definately normal.  When I had my band I felt sluggish for a week and then I slowly improved.  When I went in for RNY, my first week home I was napping 1 or 2 times a day, plus sleeping at least 10 hours a night for the first 10 days home.   Enjoy  the rest now before you have to get back to normal, the more rest you can give your body to heal the better.

Thanks for your advice. I'm still struggling to figure out what all the signs my body is giving me.
It was funny because I was moving around more then boink. I was thrilled tonight. I was getting so sick of the shakes and I substituted a yogurt from the list for one of the shakes and took it well. I was almost too scared to try something different because i wasn't sure what to expect.
