OK, I am new to this whole process and just attended my first seminar at the Miriam hospital.  I was planning on having Dr. Sax's as my doctor but I recently heard from some nurses that maybe he is not the greatest surgeon to have.  Has anyone ever had him as there surgeon or heard positive and or negative things about him.  I switched to Dr. Vithianian just in case but I wanted other peoples opinion.  Please get back to me so I can continue with the process. Thanks everyone

Both Dr.V and Dr. Sax are wonderful surgeons. I've never heard anything bad about either one of them. Good luck

Hi Nessa,

I didn't have either doctor. So the only input I can add is....

No matter what anyone tells you, go with your gut instinct.

God Bless,

Jules

Hi Nessa,

Dr. Sax is my surgeon, and I'm very happy with him and his staff!  He is very professional, while being quite kind and caring.  I did have a little bit of a question about him in the beginning, but it was personality related and not qualification related.  Everyone has a bad day, right?  I gave him a 2nd chance and scheduled my colonoscopy with him (one of my pre-op requirements).  It was then that I really found out what a gentle soul he is.  He truly, truly cares about the success of his patients.

He and Dr. V work together in the operating room (at least for lap band placement).  Dr. V did my first 2 fills, so I am also familiar with him and have heard nothing but good about him as well.  I'm sorry that you felt uncomfortable with Dr. Sax and will never truly know what a great surgeon he is, but I know you'll be happy with either he or Dr V as your surgeon.

Good luck!

Vicky

Nessa ~ Hello.  Dr.Sax is my doctor, as well as my brother's.  We've been on this journey for 8 months now and have nothing but good things to say.  He is smart and caring.  He possess an ability which is a rare find in a surgeon which is he treats patients as a whole being, not just focusing solely on the incisions he makes.
He and his staff will play an important role in your life for some time to come.  So whoever you chose, you need to feel totally comfortable with and hold the highest confidence in them.
Well wishes to you as you continue on in your process.
~ Sandy
