I'm with you.  So try some.  I add milk or creamer.  Try a small amount.  I have it in the a.m. with toast and no problem.  You could also try buying a flavored low-cal syrup or extract & adding it to a protein shake.  That might satisfy. In Starbucks I'll sometimes splurge & get their smallest drink- sometimes with soy or a non-calorie syrup.  It depends on my mood & pocketbook.

Everyone is different so you have to experiment.  I try to be careful of the calorie count, although I can drink so little anyway that I often don't care.  However, I'm almost 1 1/2 yrs. out.

I drink coffee.  Never seem to bother me.  If you scared try a small one to start. I use lowfat cream in mine.

coffee never seemed to bother me.  I was cautioned early on though that drinking coffee depletes your fluids that you need to take in.  For every caffeinated beverage you take in - you need to replace with twice as much fluid (something like that).  I always take in plenty of non - caffeinated fluids so I feel that my drinking coffee does not deplete me.  I drink my coffee with no sugar - cream only.

Also, my new favorite addiction - LATTE - if you're not familiar with it, basically it's a shot of espresso with steamed milk.  I make it at home with 1% milk - but you can order at most coffee shops with skim milk as well.  I figure this gets my milk in for me too!

I missed my coffee so much when I was in the hospital.   They gave me tea, but I am not much of a hot tea drinker.  I got home and the first thing I drank was coffee...I sipped it and oh it was just great.  My headache went away.  (had withdrawals) in the hospital.  I drink hot and iced with light cream and sweetner and it goes down really good.  Iced coffee seems to help my pouch..strange as that seems but it does..Good LUck

I drink decaf coffee with powdered sugar-free coffee matte creamer.  I also do the general foods internaltional sugar free decaf coffee.  I get the french vanilla and the mocha flavored.  It's about 50 calories with the creamer.

I was a Starbucks junkie but I'm adjusting.  I have switched to a great one decaf tea with just fresh lemon from Dunkins.  It was tough switching but now I'm used to it.

Hi There!

I drink decaf coffee. Per 12 oz mug, I have 2 TB FF half & half (=20 cals and 1 Protein!) and 3 Splenda. And I count decaf coffee as part of my fluid intake. Not sure if we are allowed to or not but I usually get in what I need, especially because I drink some decaf coffee.

I even get a medium decaf, black, at coffee shops and put my own schtuff in.

I also have many davinci syrups and add a tablespoom to a cup some times.

I accidentaly got caffeinated once and and was bouncing off the walls! But I just replaced it with twice the amount of fluids (8 oz coffee = 16 oz fluids - can count 8 oz fluids as intake). That was tough to take in for the day.

Anyway, that's me. I've heard somewhere that we are allowed to have 8 oz of caffeinated beverage a day as long as we replace it with double the fluids.

We're all different and we aren't all 'out' the same amount of time from our surgeries. I didn't start drinking my decaf until six months out. Others started a year out or a week out or never at all.

Regular tea is loaded with caffeine too. So, I have decaf tea when I'm in the mood for tea.

Have a great weekend! Keep Warm!

Jules
