Help - sick as a dog, need advice

Happy New Year everyone!

I am sooooooo sick right now.  We went to a new years party last night and on our drive there around 5pm I was starting to get a little scratch in my throat.  Well bu 10:30 I was absolutely miserable, I had a fever and couldn't swallow anything and my body was starting to hurt.   I tried to stick it out since we were with about 20 friends but by 11:15 we were walking to our car.   I was freezing, my whole body aches, my eyes are burning, and I feel like I've swallowed razor blades.

Got home at midnigh****ched the ball drop (they were at 30 seconds) and kissed my husband and I went to bed.  I took a theraflu strip, got a heating bad, and had about 9 blankets on top of me.

It's now 5am and I woke up to pee and I am burning up big time!!!!  Trying to drink some fluids but it isn't going well - hurts really bad.   I just took some chewable juniors tylenol (3 of them) and about to take another theraflu.

This is my first time getting sick since I was bypassed and I have no clue what I should or should not take.  I have a ton of allergies to medications, can't take pills in colored form - must be white, and allergic to sudafed.  My head feels about 100 lbs but I am not coughing or congested.   What should I do?????

Worst part is we have tickets for Mama Mia tonight.  It's a Christmas gift from my hubby

Sue - I'm so sorry you're feeling so bad  

The only advise I can offer is to be careful with taking the theraflu with tylenol - it may contain tylenol in it and you might be getting too much.   Also - read package and make sure the theraflue does not say if you can't take nsaids that you shouldn't take it.

Sorry you're feeling so crappy. It's 10:48 now. I hope you're feeling better.

When I have a question about what I can/should and can not/ should not take, I call my pharmacist. Easier to contact than my PCP or surgeon and I get good info.

If you don't feel better by the end of the day and the fever persists or gets worse, hit the ER.

Sounds like it came on really quick.

Could be strep so watch those kisses.

Thanks everyone.  Still not feeling good at all.  I ended up calling the on-call doctor covering for Dr. Pohl and he told me to take the theraflu and call Dr. Pohl in the morning.   He also said to keep taking tylenol.

Guess what ...... theraflu makes me dump  so I'm only taking tylenol and will talk to Dr. Pohl tomorrow.  I've slept most of the day, about 13 hours of sleep so far today.  I did get some tea down earlier but I have no appetite.  Right now I'm just trying to focus on liquids because I dehydrate real easily.

I'm so sorry you're feeling bad. Hopefully its just one of those 24 hour bugs or something. Make sure you call me if you need ANYTHING and let me know what Dr Pohl says tomorrow!

Well its Monday morning about 5am and I'm still really sick.   Woke up with a coughing fit and decided to come downstairs for a bit.  Matt has to work today and he will be getting up in about an hour.  I feel bad because I tossed and turned all night and I know that I kept waking him.  

Can't wait for the doctor's office to open.  

Hi   I am so sorry to hear you feel so sick.  It kinda sounds like strep to me.  I would definetly get tested soon.  Take it easy and you are doing good with the fluids.  I hope you feel better soon.   Eldy

Went for a quick strep test and it was negative.  They said I got the flu so I'll be spending my weekend in bed

Finally ate something last night.  I've had no food since new year's eve and was craving beef.  I had my husband grab some hamburger at the market and I cooked up some beef with manwich sauce and I also made Tastefully Simple's Lasagna Soup.   I was able to get in about 38 grams of protein last night.   Still drinking fluids and not hungry.

I did have some lasagna soup for breakfast today - 26 grams of protein and now I'm going back to bed.  Had 2 small bottels of propel and a little Robitussin.
