WOW moment

As some of you know, I work at Newport Hospital down here in Newport.  One of our doctors stopped by my office the other day.  He asked me if I'd talk to one of his patients about my experiences with RNY as this patient will be having this soon.

Well, I jumped right up on my "soap box" and told this gentleman how great I feel and how my co-morbidities have all gone away.  Told him also how my self-esteem has improved, etc...  I also told him that this web site is a great resource and about the support groups that are offered (especially Julies  ).  The patient told me he could tell that I was very enthusiastic about this and was glad he was going to be joining us .    Because I met him at work as a patient and we have our privacy laws, I can't mention his name - but I think we'll be meeting him on the board soon.

I felt so good and so proud that this doctor (whom I have huge respect for) brought his patient to see me as a success story.

ok - thanks for listening :)

You deserve to feel proud!  You are a shining example of how successful this surgery can be and how successful a person can be if they follow the rules and work hard at it.  You have done all of those things and it shows!!  Good for you!!

Pam, that's awesome to be able to "pay it foward" - every chance I get I talk to people about my surgery and experience!  It's great to be able to insert positive information about the surgery since most of the time, all anyone has to say is negative.

That is awesome and you should be proud.  Someone from work was doing some research and found my profile on the board.  At first I was uncomfortable (it isn't widely known that I had surgery).  But then I thought - hey they were on this board for a reason and if I can offer advice in person why not!

No privacy laws here - but I haven't seen either of the people who asked me about it from work on the boards yet.
