All sorts of confused
I am so happy to have found this list.
I live in North Providence and had Lap rny on Dec 9th.
Dr. Giovanni did my surgery and it went well. I am finally back up and on my feet I thought that would never happen.
I do not have a scale so not sure how much I have lost, but I started at 325. I'm already feeling some loss.
My questions are
when do you stop feeling hungry, because I am still hungry.
Also when do the cravings stop. I am craving pizza terribly. Is it all in my head?
I feel like I just lost my best friend, and I expected to feel that way, but the cravings are killing me and I feel like I am starving all the time
I have my first follow up on the 29th and I'll bring this all up then, but just wondering if anyone else has gone through the same.
I am following the post surgery diet that my nutrionist gave me to a T. Not cheating or making any substitutions and everyone tells me that after surgery you will have to force yourself to eat because you will have no appetite. But that's not the case here.
Of course it doesn't help that I still have to cook for everyone I guess...just tell me this ends..
Thank You
Hi Pamylla,
I had Lap Band done on Sept 19 by Dr Pohl. I was not hungry in the beginning but by the time I was ready to get my first fill, I was. After my fill I lost some weight and tho many say they don't feel anything with the first fill, I definitely did, tho I was totally ready for the second one, and that one seemed to hold me over better...You are tightening that band more and more with each fill, so the more fills you have the less hungry you should be. Some of what you are experiencing could very well be "head hunger", so you may have to examine what is going on with you emotionally when you want something to eat, and you have just recently eaten your meal. It isn't something we can change over nite and it the emotional side of why we got fat in the first place, doesn't go away just cos we had some surgery. It is a process, but I'm sure you will find your own rhythm to the eating and will do great!
Hang in there...the more fills you have, the less hungry you will feel, and the weight will come off.

Hi Pamylla:
I had Lap RNY with Dr Giovanni on October 23rd of 2007 and she is awesome!!! The food cravings are all in your head right now - unfortunately that's part of the process! Dont worry, it will go away.
As far as eating right now goes - be patient and measure everything! Your nerves are still healing and you wont feel full yet so you have to measure. Like you said, you are following your NUT guides to a T and you should - thats a great thing!
You should come to the support group meetings and introduce yourself - the next one is on December 30th - I might not be able to make it but I hope you come regularly!
If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
