I am wondering if anyone would take back their surgery if they could or was it well worth everything that can and does happen after surgery?

Hi Ash!

Welcome to our RI Forum! Your home-away-from-home!

I had RNY, came home day three without any issues. Day five I had severe pain, went to the ER at Roger Williams and ended up in the OR with what appeared to be a twisted bowel. I was in the hospital for another three days. I've had no issues since.

I do have dumping syndrome and am very sensitive when I eat more than 6 gms fat and/or 6 gms sugar at a time. I'm glad that I do cuz it keeps me honest and on track with my foods.

I have absolutely NO REGRETS! I love my RNY, I love my surgeon, I love my new friends and I'm Living Life!

Thanks for responding to me! I really do appreciate it. Can I ask if you have much extra skin or have you been fortunate from exercise? Do you find it hard to not drink 30 mins before, during and 30 mins after meals?
Thanks Again!!!!

No regrets!  This is the best thing that I could ever have done for myself.  I am wearing a Medium, weight less than I did in HS and this past summer I ran a 5K.  I feel great - I look great - and am so much more healthy that I was a couple of years ago!!

Good luck with your decision Ashley.  No one can tell you what is right for you.  You have to do the research and make an informned decision for yourself.   This is a great place to start!!

Welcome!

Thank you sooo much for replying! So u love your band and would not change a thing! That's great! Have you had any issue with it at all? What were some of the bad things to the lap band if u don't mind sharing with me.
Thanks

Hi Ashley,

I am going to echo what you have heard here so far.  I had my Lap Band on Sept 19, 2008.  It was a long process for me, but I have absolutely no regrets.  I love my band, and I would not change a single thing...It's the best thing I have done for myself and I feel terrific.   My health is way better than it was this time last year, and I am losing steadily.  Nope, no regrets.

Best of luck on your journey.

Regards,

Cara

Hi Lisa. I really appreciate your reply. I was wondering if you would not mind telling me what surgery you had and the worst things about it.  Thanks again!
Ash
