OT: Gift Giving Etiquette

For the past month my highschool Math teacher has been helping me (tutoring me) with my college Math course that I've been having a hard time with. I go to her house every Monday after work for about 3-4 hours. I asked if I could "hire" her so that I could pay for the help but she refused. She has been helping me for about a month and will continue for about another month - so that is 8 days at 3-4 hours each time equalling 24 - 32 hours. I'd like to get her a gift for Christmas as a HUGE thank you but I dont know what to do. She likes to read but I dont know if I should go with a bookstore gift card and I also dont know how much to spend.

Can you please offer ANY ideas?!?!?!?!

Thanks!

A restaurant gift certificate is a nice thing too.

Thanks Cara - how much $ do you think is appropriate?

I don't know what your finances look like, but I'll just throw $50 out there.  That is enough to get a nice dinner somewhere with a drink  or without drinks, maybe dinner for two.  Whaddya think?

I mean, it is a gesture right?  She(?) seems like she doesn't really want anything from you and seems like she enjoys helping without payment.  So I wouldn't spend a ton on her, but a dinner out would be a nice gift.

I think it would be a generous gesture of thanks.

I agree with Cara  A nice dinner out.  Also if she like to read the book store gift card was a great idea too.  If you get the dinner 40.00 to 50.00 is good.  She sound like a really great teacher.  Sound like you should write a letter and put her up for Teacher of the Year.  They should have more teach like that in this world.

Or send a boquette of flowers or fruit with a nice thank you card?

You're so nice to think of her like that!

Love ya!
