What is wrong with me????

Hi, I am having massive back spasm lately. This happened to me a week after the surgery, but the Dr's attested that to the large Ovarian cyst (which is still here :P)

Today I felt as if someone threw me down a flight of stone stairs. My WHOLE body hurts!!!
I do not have the flu, no fever, but I do get chilled easy. If I didn't know better I would have stated that I did have the flu, but I know I don't.

I have been good with my vitamins, although having trouble getting in protein. Every joint hurts. I can't deal with this right now as I have a family full coming to my house for Thanksgiving.
Don't worry...everything is pre-made, all I have to do is have my husband stick the turkey in the oven. (Stil having trouble lifting things...I feel like a weakling!)

Any suggestions will be accepted.

Down 24.4 lbs.  7 1/2 weeks out. Not bad!

Hey Ruth,

Could all or most of your back pain be associated with losing weight? I've heard a lot of this from people who have developed their back pain AFTER their surgery.

Let's see if I can keep it simple here....(probably not, but please bear with me for a few moments)

Personally, my back has gotten better since my surgery. But our bodies go through so many adjustments, especially the first year, to include re-balancing. We are, obviously, two-legged creatures. And two legged creatures automatically re-balance when our bodies change because of anything that can cause it to become out-of-balance. Especially with weight changes.

Some of us Carry most of our weight in the hips, some in the belly, some in the bum, etc. Some of us Lose most of our weight in the hips, some in the belly, some in the bum, etc.

Either way, we gain and lose weight unevenly. No matter how much we try, we can't select the areas we lose weight. Know where I'm going with this?

So, our body needs to adjust it's balance as the weight 'shifts'.

Unfortunately, we end up automatically over compensating in one way or another to keep balanced so we can walk on our two feet/legs.

Because my left hip hurts more than my right hip, I have ended up with underdeveloped muscles on that side. My right thigh is 1 inch bigger than my left because my muscles are more developed there. My body automatically compensates. So, because I use my right more than my left, some days my back hurts more than others if I've been walking a lot more than usual.

Anywho, if this wasn't the case for me, I would call my PCP and/or orthopedic surgeon for an appointment to rule out other potential problems.

I had severe cystic ovaries prior to my hysto. And I've had severe kidney, bladder and UTIs. And those can really cause a lot of pain in the lower back. It's horrible. Some of the pain is very similar to a herniated disk (which I also have) so I empathize with you.

What does your doc say?

Good luck. I hope your pain gets better before the holidays come full-force.

Hey Ruth ,
I agree with Julie in what she was saying.  I know with me after I started to loss the weight I started with lower back pain.  I as you know held most of my weight in my middle are.  So there for I have what I call the hanging stomach. Which pulls down. In turn that pull on the lower stomach there for making pain.  Someday better then other some not so good.  If the pain get to be to much I would say like Julie said Call the regular doctor and have them look you over. I myself take Tylenol once in a while and it help me.  Moving around like walking works too. That might hurt at 1st but once you get the back moving trust me it does help.  Now I also had the hip adding to my problem but, since replaced and I have retrain myself to walk right it is getting better.  This all takes time.  We didn't put our weight on over night so It will not come off over night.  Your doing great keep up the good work.  24.4 lbs down  wow that is great. Not bad at all.

So remember keep walking , exercising, go to the Y swim that is great for the back. and get the protein in and your water.

Have a Happy Turkey Day.

Hi, sorry I didn't get back to you...with T-day and all! I did go see my PCP, she is going to check my iron level and also my RBC's. She did a strep test as had a really sore throat, it was negative, but one of the glands on my neck was pretty swollen, so she gave me ABX's. I am feeling a little better, but the back still hurts. Pain is constant, but intensifies in pain level during different times of the day.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

~Ruth
