Felling crappy !!
Hey BigRhody,
Don't be to hard on yourself I think we all did that when waiting for surgery. I know I did. I wanted to eat all I could because I thought I never get to eat any of this stuff again. That will change. You can eat just after the surgery not as much. I had my surgery last April and I still love food just now I am more to reading the Nutrition facts and I go more for the healthy stuff then the junk. Not to say I don't like having something that is bad once in a blue moon. That the differant it is once in a blue moon and not daily now.
Your doing the right thing by asking for the support and going to the support group. I myself didn't do any of that until after my surgery I wish I had of. Congrats to you. Everyone get focused on the work and family issue's but, you need to take time for YOU!!!! Because if you don't you might not be around to focuse on the work and family stuff. I am sure your family need you here. So remember to take the time out for your Health. Your good health is a gift that you give your family. Good luck my friend.
Lisa
I'll be a little selfish here too...if you can join us on Saturday we'd love to meet you and who knows, maybe we can help get you motivated a little!
Most of all though, just remember we're all here any time you need someone to talk to
Hello there. You have many common threads through your post, threads I feel so many of us share. We don't know how to make ourselves a priority, we're great at making excuses and pre-op we can suffer from last supper syndrome.
Start learning to make time for you. It's ok, you're worth it. Keep making the time to come to the support groups. Book gym/exercise time into your calendar like you would any other appointment. You might be amazed once you start taking time for you, how you're able to better focus on all aspects of your life.
As far as the last supper syndrome, you will eat again post- op. Of course the portions won't be as large and you'll be exploring ways to make modified versions of old favorites which can be good for the whole family. I'm just shy of 12 weeks out and I'm finding there's things that just have no appeal to me anymore. Like the pint of Ben & Jerry's I was addicted to pre-op, substituted making protein ice creams and have been just as satisfied with those now.
Remember this isn't just surgery but a lifestyle change. Keep at it. Reach out for the support. Ask the questions and look for suggestions. You will find the successful WLS path to take.
