Q on surgery date
I'm just wondering if anyone who has Dr Sax or Dr V. if on your second appt. w/ the surgeon after all your pre-op tests were done did you get the surgery date at that appt. or did you have to wait for approval from your insurance company first and then get a date? I know that all docs do it diff. I'm just so excited for my appt. on thurs cuz i thought i would be getting my surgery date but then i noticed some people saying that first you need insurance approval. Also if anyone has blue cross blue chip of RI... how long did it take for approval.
I'm just taking a wild guess here but I think all surgeons have to wait till insurance approval before booking a date.
I have HMO Blue New England and my approval was fairly quick...about 3 weeks and I've heard of many that were much sooner.
Good luck! Hang in there...I know how nerve racking it can be waiting....

Hello there. The surgical coordinators will contact you with a date once your approval comes through. They will at least be able to tell you how far out they're booking, so you'll get an estimate there. Will hope for you that your approval process goes through smoothly and quickly so you'll have your date in no time.

I have Dr. Sax and once my preop tests were complete, it took just nine days until Blue Cross approved my procedure. My surgery date is November 25 and I am nervous but excited. Be patient.....it will be done before you know it!!!
