does anyone know what happens if  you don't pass the psych test??????????  and what if you don't agree with the decision.

the lady who i had my psych eval said she had to check with my  psychiatrist, he was a doctor in the same office .  Although he was my regular psych, he only saw me 5 maybe 6 times and didn't really spend any time talking to me, he just adjusted my mood pill,( which takes all of 10 -15 minutes) so i feel there is a conflict of interest.

so again i ask.....................

does anyone know what happens if  you don't pass the psych test??????????  and what if you don't agree with the decision.

any ideas to help me figue this out would be very much appreciated

Hello there.  Wondering who your surgeon is going to be.  It seems most of the docs strongly recommend, from the first appointment, that all of their patients go to the support groups just as a part of the surgery process.  Don't think you should be surprised, dismayed, etc. by the psychiatrist making this suggestion.  It can be a great means of getting information, support and so much more from those who are at all stages of this journey. The next meeting at Roger Williams is Oct 24th/6PM and at the Miriam it's the 28th starts at 5:30PM with a lap band specific group and 6PM opens to a general WLS group.  Haven't been to the one at RI Hospital, but think it's the first Wednesday of the month.  I'm sure someone on here will know those details. Not sure what happens if one fails the psych test.  If you disagree, then maybe it's a discussion to have with your surgeon.  You are entitled to get a report from that psych evaluation.  It may open your eyes to some things you may not have considered going down this WLS path.I wish you well.~ Sandy

HI,

THANK YOU FOR RESPONDING. My dr is going to be Giovanni. She has suggested nutrional consuling, which I am doing and don't really mind.

The psychiatrist, was Toba (?), She didn't really seem to look at my questionair at all, my regular psyciatrist is an associate of hers and it seemed like a conflict of interest to me, because she seemed more interested in his opinion, ( i only saw him 4-6 times and he didn't even talk to me about anything)

she  spoke with him and the man who interviewed me (I can understand him). I don't think my psychiatrist like me  we  both agreed that we would  no longer see each other that same day of my evaluation.

my support group will be monday at the office I went from 5:30 - 6:30 or so.

Again, thanks for you input.

It seems that if you are not a patient at the dr. office you can't attend the support group.

where did you go for your eval
