psych evaluation
Did they give you a questionaire to do at home? The questions that the first person asked me were just like those - wasn't near as bad as I thought it would be. One thing that sticks out in my mind is - one question asked (in a series of questions) Do you ever get short of breath ? well, it was in with other questions that seemed to be getting at panic attacks. Well, I was almost 270 lbs - of course I get short of breath! Then I was afraid to say yes because it would go into a series of questions of why? Well, I answered honestly but told her - yes, when I walk a long distance at a fast pace, walk up stairs... She laughed but had to ask the rest of the questions anyway lol.
Don't dread it, just go in and be honest - they can tell when you aren't!
Good Luck,
Pam

I know how you feel. I was so afraid of 'failing'!
I remember being asked about my family history with depression, etc. My history with depression. How do I feel about myself? Do I understand the surgery I'm looking into? Do I have a support system at home? Do I go to support groups? What do I expect out of the surgery?
Stuff like that.
I hope this helps.
Let us know how you feel after, k?

WELL, TODAY SUCKED
I answered all the questions honestly, even about my problems with depression, she then informed me that she could 't make a decision until she spoke with my psychiatrist. I informed her that I was fine, alot better then I had been before, I explained how I am seeing the nutritionist and was doing what I was told and how I stopped taking my vicoden the day after my meeting with Dr. Giovanni. I couldn't express enough, how I was doing what I was told, and that I was prepared for after the bypass and so on.
It didn't seem like it was good enough. She said I would hear from here within 2 days.
NOT FEELING TOO GOOD ABOUT THE WHOLE THING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
