Laura is in the hospital...

Hey Everyone,

Just a note to let you know that Laura (LB) is in the hospital.

She's been experiencing pains in her abdomen for a couple days. It kept getting worse so she went to see Dr. G this morning. Dr. G. admitted her to RW immediately and had her have a CT scan.

Laura was brought into surgery around 2 pm. Dr. G. came to the waiting room right after she completed the surgery to tell us Laura did well and would be sent to recovery shortly. Apparently, there was a lot of scar tissue developed in her bowel. Laura's bowel had become twisted/kinked, herniated. Causing a lot of pain.

Dr. G. was able to repair the herniation and get rid of scar tissue. She also was able to anker the bowel in order to prevent it from happening again. She re-assured us that Laura was doing well. And she was. We were able to go into the recovery room to see her within the hour then up to her room with her when she was transported.

There was nothing that could be done to prevent this and it could happen to, virtually, anyone at any time. Laura has lost over 210 pounds in just one year. There is a lot of settling that happens when the body is getting rid of all the fat that surrounds our organs.

Laura is on the fourth floor, with a private room and all our wonderful staff friends. She's, again, in great hands!

Laura may be able to go home as soon as tomorrow. I'll make sure you get updates.

Jules

Oh My GOSH!!  I am so sorry to hear about this, but I am very happy to know that Laura is now ok and was in the very capable hands of her doc.  I'm glad she didn't wait any longer to call her.  Please let her know that I am thinking of her and hoping she gets home tomorrow, and that all stays well for her.  It's great that you could be there for her Jules!  Now you can be HER angel!
