Our monthly get together has gotten attention.....

Well, I received a phone call today from one of the dieticians at Healthway RI asking about our monthly get together and would I mind if they include it in a newsletter for new WLS patients.
I told her I didnt mind, but please make sure that she notes that it is very informal and not really a "support group" more just a bunch of people who have had the surgery getting together to talk and have fun.

How does everyone else feel about having some new people showing up? Any objections or Thoughts??

Hi Scott,
Of course you're welcome, the get together is open to any WLS patient and their families or friends. I do want to stress that this is just a group of us getting together each month at my house and talking and having fun, its not an official support group or affiliated with any hospital or doctor. (even though Im a bit biased and must say you have an AMAZING surgeron, I LOVE Dr Pohl)
It was started when a group of us who always talked at the RW support group and on here just decided to get together more often, so I hold it once a month so we can just chat and have fun. I cook (wls friendly of course) and we just have a good time.
Our next get together is a halloween party on Oct 18 from 3-? and I'm inviting everyone to dress up and come have a blast.
The address is 30 Catherine St. Bristol, RI 02809 and my phone is 401-289-0602. Give me a call if you need directions or have any questions.

Hope to see you then!

Well, I dont know if thats the case. I know a lot of people cant do weeknights, so maybe thats what prompted this. As I stressed above though, this is not really a support group, more of just a bunch of individuals who have something in common getting together and having fun.

I think it is a good idea  as long as they know it is  not a support group and it is a get together.   I still feel people should come to the support groups too.

I agree Lisa, I try my best not to miss any of the RW meetings, I've only missed 2 in over a year. I did stress that to her on the phone and ask her to make sure she noted it.
