Hi

I'm new to the site and also new to WLS.  Had my Realize band done on Wednesday (9/24) and currently just trying to make it past the first weeks of liquids.

Since I've been home, I have realized that most of my eating has come from being bored.  I'm finding myself with nothing to do and it's driving me nuts.  I think it's all in my head and it will take sometime to change the way I think about food.

I have read some of your message and enjoy reading everyone's experiences.

Take care --

Hello there and welcome.  Fellow Dr. Sax patient here.  After my surgery, had that 2 week period when I couldn't drive and had the same going nuts experience.  Didn't have some of usual things to keep me busy here at home - cooking, baking and eating.  For much of that time really didn't feel much like eating, but does set your mind on a different way of thinking all about food.  Still discovering new things about my relationship with food and my pouch.
Wishes of wellness on your recovery and road to the healthier you.

Hello Chris,

Welcome to the message board.  I hear what you are saying about being bored and having your mind lead towards food.   I does drive ya nuts.  I had the same problem when I 1st came home.  You have to get your mind off it.  here are a few things you can do.  Call a friend, read a really good book, play cards, put a puzzle together.  Go for a walk.  (remember walking is good)  come online and message any question you might have.  One that worked for me  start a jounal and write in it.

Again welcome to the looser bench with the rest of you .  enjoy your journey. any question do not be afraid to ask any question.

Hi Chris, and welcome!

I too had the Realize band placed by Dr. Sax on 9/15.  I'm 2 weeks out and doing great so far!  I do understand your boredom issues though.  I have the same problem.  I (almost) can't wait to go back to work!  (Did I say that out loud?!?)

Hello Chris & Ella too!

Welcome to your new home-away-from-home!

Please feel free to ask for and offer as much info/advice as you need/want to!

I hope to see you here often and perhaps some day meet you at a support group meeting!

Time to pick up some healthy hobbies to keep you busy, Chris. Try walking, reading, puzzles, crafts, needlepoint, anything to keep you and/or your hands busy! Surfing online is always good.

And remember...

Thank you for the welcome Jules.
Been checking on the message boards on and off for days, getting to know everyone through their posts.

I am looking forward to the support group next month at RW, at this point I think I need  people around me who understand what I am going through,...has anyone else felt like that?
