starting the processw
its me again, I have just mad ALL of my appointments to start my journey for my gastric bypass.
my question is this:
i know the gallbladder ultra sound is simple
what does the psych evaluation consist of, i know it is a long day with two visits in one day
how about the cardiologist
the dieticion(?) food lady
AM I FORGETTING ANYTHING??
also, my sister thinks I am crazy , she knows someone who had the bypass and she is always sick after eating or drinking anything..
i am looking forward to losing the weight, and being able to play with my 4 year old, and taking pictures with her, and eating healthier , getting rid of my sleep apnea and that breathing machine i have to use.
Also,
i am currently seeing a psychiatrist for bi polar, and the psych place i have to go is the same as where i co for treatment . will this have any bearing on my being able to have the surgery
I KNOW THIS POST IS LOOOONG, BUT I HAVE A LOT OF QUESTIONS THAT NEED ANSWERING
THANKS,
Hey there! Welcome to your journey!
Everyone's experiences are different, but feel free to read my profile. I have blogged everything I have been thru along the way. Many of the others here have done the same, so you can gleen a lot of info just reading.
I am not having the bypass, I am having the band, so I can't answer any of those specific questions, but plenty others here can shed some light for you. In nutshell, the untrasound was just like one you get when pregnant, only you don't have to drink the water. My Psych eval was about 1 1/2 hrs, with discussion about why I want the surgery, and his evaluation if I am basically emotionally ready for the changes my life will take once I can't use food as my drug of choice. My cardiologist did an EKG, then found I have a heart murmur, so he had me come back for a stress test. The nurtitionist discussed eating post surgery, but later my insurance required me to do 3 months with a nut and trainer, so I spent that time learning a lot about how to manage my diabetes now and how to get my protein in after. All of the tests are to be sure you are FIT to have surgery. None of these docs want us to become a statistic.
With regards to your Bi-polar condition, I have no answers there as to how that will affect the outcome, but I tend to think you are not the first person being treated for that, who wants and ultimately has WLS.
Like I said before, read some profiles....get some more detailed info that way, and good luck in your process. Keep us informed on how it's going. We're here to support you along the way.
