Last night was my first day of school!!!
We started at 7 pm, took a break at 8 for about 10 minutes and when we got back she asked that everyone go around the room and introduce themselves by name and tell the class something "interesting" about themselves... you all know me, I said the following - "my name is Laura, I'm 25 years old, I've had gastric bypass surgery and I have lost 200 lbs" - the reaction I got was awesome!!! A couple girls in the class asked "would you recommend it" and most people said "wow, you look great" - it definitely was a great feeling! I must say that I was a little nervous saying it but at this point, I could care less what people think about the choices I've made.
Anyhow - we had our first writing assignment in class last night. We had to take out our wallet and write about how the contents of it would describe us to a complete stranger. We had to say if it would be misleading or if just simply by what is in our wallet it would tell the stranger a complete story about us - this was an easy assignment for me - going on my introduction about having gastric bypass I was able to use my license picture as an example of how my wallet wouldnt describe my accurately at all. It shows a picture of my 200 lbs heavier and someone who is unhappy and who no longer exists. We had to write a a 1 page typed paper in class and hand it in. The professor read it with us, gave us feedback and then let us leave - she liked mine.
Tonight is Math 1700 - its a math lab - I'm looking forward to it, it is all self motivated so you work at your own pace - I like that, hopefully I stay ahead of the game and get done early!

My Lovely Educated Laura!
I'm so proud of you for taking this step!
I'm glad you like your teacher and I have always treasured your honesty and now, so will your new friends and classmates. Hooray for you!
Now you have me wondering what my wallet says about ME. Yikes!
I'm sure you'll do fine with the math.
If you ever need help with anything, please feel free to ask me to be a study partner! I'd love to read what you write too. You're such a talented writer!
Wouldn't it be cool to write a book about your experiences and publi****
I love you!
