Brunch Buffet

Have any of you been to a brunch buffet since your surgery?  We are in NH visiting with the inlaws and my mother in law is taking us to brunch today.  I was wondering if any of you had any success telling waitress that you've had surgery - perhaps be charged child portion?  Seems a shame to pay all that money and only eat scrambled eggs off the buffet

I think at a support mtg I heard someone mention that they just spoke to the waitress and it was a non issue..Maybe the mgr had to be asked, but the restaurant was fine with it.  I think she just told them that she had had the surgery and couldn't eat more than a child's portion.  Worth a shot.

I haven't been to a buffet style, but I did go to Wright's Chicken Farm- an all you can eat place.  I was considering mentioning it to the waitress, but she didn't charge me for one of my boys- because he barely ate- so I hated to ask.  I have heard that some restaurants are easy with this- but others will not budge.  If you feel comfortable asking- then by all means!

Well - I went ...
Didn't mention the RNY to waitress... don't know why - just didn't feel like getting into the whole story with my husband's family looking on.  Anyway, I at all protein - eggs, meat.  Was the only meal I ate all day lol.  I actually even took a slice of Key Lime Pie and ate one spoonful just cuz I had to taste it.

Thanks for the advice...

I guess the cost was not so bad considering it was food for the whole day! hehehe!!  Sounds like you handled things just fine.  Whatever makes you feel comfortable is the best rule of thumb (whatever that means...seemed a weird saying when I saw it written down)

I ordered off the kids menu at cracker Barrel and they were fine with it.  I always ask, especially if I am not that hungry.

Hope you enjoyed it!!!
