30/30 Rule

Hey there Peepers!

I've noticed that some people actually have scheduled or unscheduled snacks during the day, along with the three meals per day.

Just wondering

A)  If you follow the 30/30 rule (no drinking 30 minutes prior, during or 30 minutes after your meal) when you have your snacks.

I find it harder to get all my H2O in if I snack and do the 30/30

B)  Are you hungery and that's why you snack? What do you snack on?

Thanks for your time!

Jules

Hey Jules personally i dont do much snacking but as far as the 30/30 goes i was told not to drink 30 b4 and 30 after until i was fully healed and knew when i was full.  But this only applied to the 30 after.  I drink fluids right up until i eat but will not drink till 30 after.  Jeremy said this was fine as long as i eat my protein first incase i get full fast, but i usually never have a problem eating.  If i do snack lol on my cookies its usually a couple of hours after dinner and then wait 30mins after i snack to drink.  I hope this helps.

Julie! Great question. I usually drink a large amount of fluids all at one time. I hate sipping on things throughout the course of the day so I have my 2 32 oz bottles of water/iced tea/crystal light and I make sure that I drink them both by the end of the day and I'm good. I usually drink one whole one over the course of 2 hours at around noon and then the other one around 4:30 ish.

That is what works for me. I dont want the 30 minutes before eating anymore - I drink right up until it is time to eat and then I always wait a good 2-3 hours after eating to drink again.

I always try to have a drink with me at all time of the day I drink right up until it is time to eat and I wait 30 min after I eat before I start drinking again.  I just started doing this in the past month because I was not getting enough to drink .   Now god know with how many time I spend in my bathroom I am drinking enought lol

Thank you for your responses. All three of you drink right up until you eat. Including snacks, I'm assuming.

How far out from surgery do you start doing that?

Thanks again,

Jules

I drink right up until I eat as well and have done that almost right away.  I don't snack very often- because I absolutely notice when I snack- I am NOT getting my fluids in, which is probably why I am wanting a snack.

hi jules,  i drink right up until i eat also and have been doing it right along.  sometimes depending on what i eat and have to force myself i have to take sips while eating.  i have a big problem with breakfast and it stays in my thought and won't go down do sometimes i take a sip of fluid which i know is a no no. i do not snack except maybe a sf pop at night before bed which is more fluid than anything.

It's an interesting question.  I do snack although it's a fine line between a snack & a meal as I eat so little.

I just finished a snack.  Maybe 10-12 almonds.

Yes, I am slightly hungry.  It's also a way to sneak more protein in.

I drink up to the snack, but try not to after to keep the pouch full for as long as possible.

Getting all the water in is almost impossible, as is the protein.  I do as much as I can.

Generally I snack on some high energy type thing (nuts w/granola, bar, etc.),  but sometimes it can be popcorn or even a sweet.  Lately it's been a piece of fruit, small piece of cheese, salad or veggie.  I try & forgoe the protein in the evening, although I may try & actually "finish" my supper.  I generally eat out of a custard cup.

You know, I think I've almost always done this.  Like I said, it's a fine line between a "snack" and a "meal."  I've just been trying to fit everything in. I'm almost a year out, but I still can eat very little, but more than after the surgery.

Hope this helps!
