Another question around protein drinks

Yes, I think I only ordered the fruity choices of nectars.  Julie was kind enough to let me take a sip of one of hers at last month's support mtg, and it was good...not overly sweet, which is why I can't drink the crystal lights.  I usually drink water, or freshly brewed iced tea with a splenda.  I think Julie had mixed hers with tea??  Can't recall.  The thought of mixing one of those with milk is gross to me, just as the thought of mixing a choc or vanilla one with water is gross to me!  I am with you on that grit factor.  The two I bought yesterday were just single packets.  I refuse to buy anything in a big container that I haven't tried first.  Which is why I need to get on the stick and try something before I have my surgery.  I see my doc in less than a week now, and hope to get my surgery date SOON!!  Gotta be ready!  Thanks for the feedback!

Some people are lactose intolerant right after surgery - that's the reason for mixing with water. The only way to find out is to try it... I did fine with mixing with skim. Not to mention the shakes taste better that way.

Unfortunately, it is trial and error!  I bought the ones from Dr. Pohl's office (Proti-15).  They told me to only mix them with water.  The warm capuccino one and the vanilla gagged me, I couldn't get them down at all.  I liked the chocolate and the strawberry, but the best ones were the fruity ones (Peach Mango and Wildberry were the best).  I also used a lot of SF Carnation Instant Breakfast, but they told me to mix that with skim milk or else there wouldn't be enough protein.  Good luck!

Thanks!  The Carnation Instant Breakfast seems to be a common theme. I already have some of that and drink it on occasion before the gym, so I will definitely up the protein on it and use that.  I have also heard from someone else that the wildberry was really good...and I have a line on a sample to try before I see Dr Pohl next week to get my date ( i hope!!!).  Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks LB!  I am trying them now, in hopes I can get my menu together before surgery.  And yes, I am sure the shakes taste much better with milk!!!
