Another question around protein drinks

I have not tried any protein drinks yet, but I feel like it is time for me to get over it and try some.  I have ordered some of the nectars from Vitalady, and am waiting for those to come in.  Today I purchased two ( a choc and a vanilla) from Whole Foods.  Is there some reason why I should be mixing them with water, as opposed to skim milk, other than calories?  The package says I can mix with either.  Comments and advice from you experts would be great!  Thanks!!

Not sure about why you wouldn't mix them with skim milk.  I only know you need to drink these things cold.  Protein drinks and hot - do not mix.  Good luck!  See you Saturday!!

Well, my sentiments exactly - but was not sure if skim milk was ok to drink right after surgery.  Thanks for the advice on COLD!  I'm taking it!

Drink them very cold.   Mix them with a shaker or blender.  I did ok with the Choc. but the vanilla I didn't like. There is an orange kind out there.  I am going to the pool party and have extra at home I will bring if anyone want to try the once I have.

I know they let me do a few with skim milk before surgery but, after surgery I could not handle skim milk and have not been able to drink milk since.  So that might be why.   Also you can make with the water at 1/2 like 4oz not 8oz makes it like a pudding that you can spoon eat.  Remember COLD is the best way.

Thanks for the advice.  I bought a shaker and I am going to try my first one this morning to see how it is.  COLD for sure!

I usually run my NSA Carnation thru the blender with ice, and sometimes add a banana for extra thickness...I like it a lot. I agree with you, not bad at all.    Thanks for your feedback and sugestions!

When I got home, I was mixing it with water because that's what the directions said. BUT...I read further and now add the Smart Milk skim to boost my protein up.

I always use the Simply Smart milk to mix them with- it adds more protein as well.  I am thinking of trying the ones I could not tolerate once more with the water instead- just to see if the milk mixed with them was the issue and not the shake itself.

A lot of the Nectars are fruity- I think those are all mix with water- though I have only tried the vanilla bean and chocolate truffle ones (with milk).

I have several mixes to try- I bought big containers without being able to try them first and found I had to force my way through them.  I have a really hard time with the heavy, gritty-ness of them
