Two questions....
1) I have had a great deal of diarrhea in the past 24 hours. Was that something any of you experienced? Is it considered normal?
2) I was losing a pound or more a day and have stopped! I actually gained a 1/2 pound since yesterday! I thought I would be losing, losing, losing...not a plateau after only two weeks and 13 pounds!!!!! When does the weight loss come??
Thanks!
Marie
2) It is extremely common to hit your first "stall" around 2-3 weeks post-op, just keep eating your protein, getting in all of your fluids, and the weight will come off again, I promise!! I remember thinking "this surgery is not working for me!" when I was around 3 weeks out, believe me, it's totally normal!
Hope that helps!
Krista
HiYa Marie!
I have to say that the diarrhea and the questions are both totally normal. I went from the full fledged runs to being constipated for 18 days straight. You are right where I was. However, if you are really, really concerned, don't hesitate to pick up that phone and call the doc, k?
If you get a chance, please check out my tracker at the bottom of my profile. You will see that your weight lose/gain is and will be similar to others. You're right on track there too.
I've heard there are 'stalls' at 3 weeks, 2 months, 4 months and 6 months. I don't know how true this is but I did experience the 3 weeks post op lull and only lost 1.5 pounds that week after losing a whopping 17.5 pounds the just the first two weeks post-op!
Most don't even consider it a plateau until there is absolutely NO loss for a certain amount of time. I generally gain 1 - 2 pounds throughout my daily weigh-ins and end up losing by the end of the week any way (my 'official' weigh in day is Wednesdays). I'm still losing an average of 3 pounds a week since home from the hospital (total of 6 weeks). I would LOVE it to be 5 but I can't complain. Since the beginning of my journey (pre-op diet included) I lost an average of 5 pounds a week any way (in a total of 10 weeks-2 wks pre-op, 2 wks hospital, 6 wks post-op last surgery).
Okay, enough out of me. I actually feel like I have some energy these past two days. I hope it continues!
Have a wonderful week!
Jules
