No More Insulin

I just wanted to tell everone that I don't have to take insulin anymore!!! I was taking 4-6 needles a day. This is one of the main reasons that I decided to have RNY. My mom had type 1 Diabetes, and my father has type 2. My mom died 4 1/2 yrs ago at age 52 of complications due to Diabetes. My father has had 1 amputation, and another one coming up(I hope not-but it looks that way. I have 2 beautiful daughters that I want to see grow up. Anyway, in just 7 wks my A1C went from 7.9 to 6.1!!!

Normal is from 4.0-6.0, mine was 7.9!!!!! WOW!!! I feel as if I have been pardoned from a death sentence!!

aimee, i am so proud of you and happy thast this is a big burden lifted from your shoulders and i know what kind of life that you mom had and am very glad that you do not have to go thru that yourself. good luck

Thanks Everyone!!! Words can't express how happy I am!!! This is more proof to the theory that RNY can help diabetics. Even after my complications I would do it all over again. I have my life back!!

Yes this was on tv several months ago. RNY does cure diabetes! Unfortuately, it's only Type 2 that it cures. Researchers are testing a form of RNY for patients who do not need the entire procedure like we had. It seems that re-routing the intentines stops the diabetes.
