Okay experts! I am 2 weeks out and don't want to move! I am in no pain, just a bit of discomfort after eating/drinking. I need some good solid ideas on increasing my energy level and getting back my old "get up and go" mentality. ANY SUGGESTIONS!!??

Excellent post, Marie!

I'm looking forward to the replies you get!

I'm 7 weeks post-op and very fatigued all the time. Dr. P told me I'll probably be really dragging for about the first three months.

However, since I have started swimming at the gym, I've noticed a bit more energy (except right after the gym of course). Hot Tub

all I can say is....rest when you feel you need it most. Then, when you're less tired, go for a walk. That's what helps me most. Consciously moving.

Let me know how it works for you, k?

No, not really. I mainly walk, bounce and just plain move. I get my heart rate and respiration up too! I also do two water dynamic classes a week! The guy is a real drill sergeant!

They also have a hot tub and sauna!

Wanna come some time? I have passes!!!

(That offer is open to anyone here!)

Hi Marie!!

I am also 7 wks post op.  I am just now getting my full energy back.  I think that the key is not to ru**** listen to your body.  I definetly find a diffenence in my enery level when I don't get enough protein, or fluids.  Actually I think that if I have 20 extra grams of protein a day, I feel much better.  That may be because the body needs protein to heal muscles, or maybe I am just crazy.  Anyway...want some ideas? Here it goes...if you need to rest-REST, the world will still be there after a nap...listen to our good friend Jules sip, sip, sip (Jules you are the best!!)...make sure that you are getting all of your protein.  The best news is your new life has just begun!!  You have the world before you--the best is yet to come!!!

Take Care!!  Aimee

Take your time, you are only a couple of weeks out.  You have had major surgery.  Rest Rest Rest.  Your body will tell you when you are ready to move.  Start out really slowly...and listen to your body.  Like Jules said, when you feel like doing more. then do a little walking.  But really take it easy....It's going to take awhile for you to heal.  You dont want to over do it.  Most doctors dont even want you to drive for a few weeks.
