It is tough, luckily you had no hunger for as long as you did.  Think of it as a diet again- you CAN get through this.  I just went for my second fill yesterday and hoping for something as so far I have had nothing.

Some days are much harder than others- just know you went through a lot to get here.  Don't sabatouge it now.  If you need snacks- make sure they are healthy ones.  I always have the lowfat cottage cheese with peaches in the fridge and ready.  Also laughing cow cheese wedges with 5 whole grain crackers or melba toast works.

If Dr Roye can feel your port and you are not having other issues- he will most likely do the fill right there in the office- without needed to schedule for the fluoro.  Good luck to you- feel free to whine to me about it- I sooo understand and we are in the same boat.

I totally understand what you are going through but trust me it will get better.  Once you start to eat solid food it will be a little better, but remember you have little to no restriction at this point.  I started to get really hungry one week out and I thought the same thing - what the heck did I do.  I've dieted before and it didn't get me very far.

I just try to measure out my food and only eat what I've measured.  Also, eating slowly - I mean turtle slowly does help.  It is so hard to do this when you have such a little bit on your plate!  I also find that when I really drink a lot of water - like 80 oz a day - it really helps also.  I also made sure I was getting in the three protein shakes and that helped to keep me satisfied.  Also, lots and lots of protein in your meals.

I just had my first fill yesterday and I am seven weeks out.  I don't know if I have any restriction because I am on liquids until tomorrow.

Just think how close you are to next appointment.  You will make it.  Feel free to whine, swear, cry, scream etc, any time.  I know how hard this is.

I was fortunate not to go through any of that but I also had my own share of problems (band slip) early out so I'm not so sure how fortunate I was. Just hang tough!! S-f popsicles might help. If you are on solid foods....eat solid protein, things that will fill you up and make sure you aren't drinking for atleast 1 hr after.
I have had 2 fills with a total of 1.25ccs. I don't have much restriction but I also don't battle much with hunger. I do know it'll get easier over time.

Hi Jaime,

I'm sorry you're going through this. I can't offer any band advise but I can say, make sure you're following your band rules.

Good luck!

Jaime - these feelings are completely understandable.  You are healing getting onto real food and you have no fill - no restriction. It will take a couple of fills before you feel restriction and then it will get easier.  Until then, do your best.  It takes time...stay focused you can do this!!!
