SF Carnation Instant Breakfast Drinks...

I was just wondering if anyone used these drinks in the early phase or perhaps now instead of the protein mixes? Maybe add some PB2 to boost up the protein?

As you know I am on Optifast now and someone in my family had the protein mix from Walmart...I took a sip and wanted to gag! I didnt realize that my drinks had so much more sugar than the protein drinks. I know we are supposed to keep it between 5-7 grams of sugar per serving....I was just curious if anyone substituted the Instant Carnation drinks in place of the protein drinks.

I am going to have to make some adjustments to the protein mixes if my NUT says that the Carnation drinks dont provide enough protein and I must have the protein mixes...

hi rob, if you drink the carnation instant breakfast make sur its the sugar free one. i had a friend that could only tolerate that one and i assume that she might have added something to it to give her more protein. i bought some of the samples from vitalady and are trying them out and marking down which ones are better than others so i will know what ones to buy. i have not had surgery yet but am due for the surgery on the 31st of july so have been trying ahead of time.

Hi, SF Instant Carnation is currently my protein shake of choice.  I typically have it for breakfast because my band tends to be very tight in the AM.  During my postop - I drank the Proti 15 wildberry protein shakes.  They were sold in my doctors office, but I have also found them online..

    Hi Rob!

I did the Proti 15 shakes too. I also do Isopure low carb in the bottles and Isopure powder from vitalady.com.

Like Danielle, mornings are tough for me to eat. Pouchy doesn't like food first thing in the AM so I generally do a proti shake first thing.

I would LOVE to try the SF Carnation instant breakfast but I can't find it anywhere!

Dunno How much protein is in one of those if you mix it with skim milk?

    See you Tuesday!

    Rob and Jules,
I have a bunch left over from surgery that I'll bring you on Thursday and you guys can have. It was my protein of choice before surgery but after I cant tolerate them since my gallbladder was taken out.
I'll bring my goodie box of things I have from surgery and everyone can go through it.
    Cant wait to see you!!!!!!

    Hey Rob,

I just sw my nutritionist this week and she told me I could use the SF Carnation Instant Breakfast drinks for my protien drinks, but I could boost the protein up by adding powdered milk.  Hope that helps.

I have tried these since I posted this...UGHHH!!!  I don't know maybe since I have been and will be drinking choc and strawberry for another two mionths...these did nothing for me.

Post surgery I am going to go with Nectar(Roadside Lemondae) and others....I am in need of something other than chocolate!   ha

I am just hoping post op...that my taste buds still like the taste of the Nectar protein drinks!!

Seriously think about investing in some Davinci or Torani sugar free syrups. You can take any plain vanilla (or choc) protein drink and make just about any flavor under the sun with them without adding any calories or anything.
Let me know if you ever want to try them,  I have a whole collection of syrups at home!
