A bump in the road??

Here is my ordeal....
I had WLS last Friday, July 11, all went well and I came home on Monday. Tuesday, I woke up and felt surprisingly good! I went for a walk around our neighborhood with my husband and had an equally good day on Wednesday, including another walk. Thursday I woke up not feeling so good...dizzy, lower back ache on the right side, and crying on and off, irritable....NOT LIKE ME. I woke up yesterday feeling the same. I have not been getting even 20 grams of protein and am struggling for 40oz of water so I attributed my feeling poorly to dehydration. I called and Dr. Roye was on-call so he sent me for a urinalysis. I came back home and had some pureed lunch at 1:20. I wasn't even done with my 3 tablespoons when I had to run to the bathroom with diarrhea. When I stood up, it was black, black, black. Needless to say, Dr. Roye sent me to RI ER . I sat there from 2:45pm to 10:50pm....8 HOURS IN THE ER!!!!!  My back hurt and by 10:00 I was in tears again. They did a rectal and found blood so admitted me, ran blood work, etc. My labs came back fine and I was getting discharged when it happened again...black diarrhea. The nurse came in, had a dr come in to look at it and said he thinks it looks "old" so I "should" be fine. If I still have it on Monday call Dr. Ryders office. Now I am a nervous wreck. Has this happened to anyone?

Still dizzy!

Sorry Marie,
No help here but hope you are feeling better soon!
Get rest and try to get your fluid and protein in! That's really important!

Oh Marie,

I'm so sorry you're going through this! I really hope it gets better for you soon. Could it just be old blood from the surgery?

I had diarrhea at first but no blood. That fact that you're still dizzy bothers me. Did they check your blood levels? Are you getting in your iron?

If you are really nervous, go back to the ER! Insist on seeing Dr. Roye if he's still on call! That's what I would do.

Take care of yourself and do your best to sip, sip, sip, k?

I'm thinking of you and praying for you as well!

Hugs & Kisses!

I'm sorry to hear that you had that experience. In terms of the black stools, mine were that color for about a week or so. As long as you are feeling better, you should be fine. Hope things go better for you!

Marie!  I have no advice but wondering how you are doing.  Did you see Dr Ryder today??  How did you make out?

(what time where you there- I was there from 1:55-2:30 with Dr Roye)

Fingers, toes, and everything else crossed for you!!

Thanks for asking Alexia! I talked to Dr. Ryder tonight and the first thing she told me to do is to stop the Lovenox shots NOW. She told me to throw them away and never use it again! Second, she told me that it is probably bleeding at one of the connections. I had another bm that was black today so I have to call her tomorrow morning to update her on how I feel, if I have any more etc.
I just don't have much energy. I had more last Tuesday when I woke up, 4 days after major surgery, than I do now. I don't like that!! So we'll see. I told her I don't want to go to the ER and she said we can try to avoid it. I forgot to tell her that I am done with hospital stays, too. I'll have to tell her that tomorrow!
Thanks again Alexia!

The low energy may be your body going ino kind of a shut down mode because it feels you are starving it.  It is normal after a week or so for this- fingers crossed that is all it is.

I hope things get better once the shots are stopped
