Question with Sleep study fro Dr Roye
OK so I want to make an appointment with dr Roye - from everything I have read the sleep study takes forever to get into. I was wondering who -or where, he wants you to go for the sleep study so I can make that appontment and hopefully make things move along faster. Do you nee a refferall or can you just make your own appointment? My insurance does not require refferals...
Also does he require a refferal? I have not told my pcp because he is against wls.

Well the bad part about that is I need a psych eval before I can get approved... so I have to wait for a packet to come in the mail, send it back wait to see what the NP says then what? are they going to send me to a psych eval before my consult with him?
I don't care if I go with pohl or roye - whomever I can get this done quicker with is what I want so I will wait for the info from roye and in the mean time wait until NEXT MONTH for pohl. (sorry the whole waiting another month is frustrating)
If I didn't miss that seminar last week with dr pohl I would be making appointments with that list he hands out right now but, since I screwed up, I have to wait another month... unless anyone has that list and I can get started while waiting for the next seminar!

Like nancy said, his office will give you a list of appointments that are actually scheduled for you, which you can always change. I actually got into the sleep study within a day... I'm not sure if it was just luck. The only way that I see it taking awhile is if you need to go back. Any other questions feel free to ask!
I think that you may have to get the approval from your ins. co. first. I don't think the sleep center will book an appointment just because you want one, it has to come from Dr. Roye (or whomever) or your PCP. From the time I met with Dr. Roye's office, it took about 4 weeks to get the approval. They make some of the appointments for you and you can always change them if needed. I did not have to do a psych eval or any other appointments before meeting with Dr. Roye to start the process. As soon as you get the approval paperwork, call for the sleep study and then the psych eval. These take the longest.
I know that it is frustrating, but it does go by rather quickly. I was actually surprised that the whole process only took about seven months for me.
Good Luck!!!!!!

hi, for you to get all the appts made, you robably will have to be approved first. the sleep study did not take me long to get an appt with. they can call you if they have a cancellation also. they did me. when the doctor's office makes all the appt for you there is a special referral number they need and without that they will not see you. so try and get the approval first and if your insurance does not require a referral from the pcp then you do not need that to see dr. roye. i hope this is helpful
