Yup! Me! The weeble-wobble with the cane!

My daughter, Michelle, and I joined Ballys today! Stationary Bike  Aerobics

My first meeting with my trainer, Colin, is Monday morning! He is experienced in helping people with physical disabilities similar to mine!

Chelle and I will have the same trainer. She will be concentrating on Sports conditioning and doing the water dynamics with me.

I will be concentrating on just plain moving.

Before surgery, I was lucky to be able to walk to the stop sign (two houses down). Hubby and I have been walking every night. I can now walk two blocks in my neighborhood. We only stop a few times but without sitting down.

So, if I can push myself just a little further each day, both walking at home and going to the gym, I'm hoping to get rid of the cane.

I'm scared of the pain but I have it all the time all day long anyway so maybe, in the long run, the pain will lessen.

Thanks for your time!

Love you all!

Jules

Yeah!!!!  Small steps!!  Congrats!!  And how cool to have someone who has experience like that!!  I am fighting my own battle daily trying to get my butt into gear on the treadmill or moving somehow.  I set little things in my mind if I am really hurting that day like- I can do at least a 1/2 mile, I get to that point and push myself to another "mini-goal" until I have fooled myself into working out my 1/2 hour

Julie! I am so proud of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is going to help you so much with being mobile and just feeling comfortable moving around without your cane! What an awesome step in the right direction!

Thank you for your support everyone!

I went today!

When I arrived, the kid/guy at the counter Operator  said "I remember you from yesterday, you must really be ready for this!" I told him "Ready or not, here I am".

I walked in the water to warm up for about 10 minutes, swam for a full hour, walked again for another 10 minutes then sat in the jacuzzi for yet another 10 minutes. Showered and came home.

I'm pleasantly exhausted! My muscles are sore but I have to say, it's the first time in YEARS I have felt free to move about! The water feels like a miracle to me. No cane, no wobbling! Just ME....Moving....like a normal person!

There really wasn't anyone my age in the water. Mostly older than me. But that's okay. I met two new people today! That's always cool!

I'm going back tomorrow with my daughter. I can't wait!

I have a lot of passes (one day and one week passes) is anyone is interested in joining me some time! Let me know!

Thanks again for all your support! It's Friday

I love you guys!

Hi Jules,

Good for you!!  Water aerobics is supposed to be a great low impact exercise routine.  I think I want to try that as well.  Hubby and I have been thinking about joining the YMCA and using their facilities in Franklin, MA after the move to Milford on 8/1.

Where is it that you go?

Enjoy your workouts!

Hey Vicki,

The gym is Ballys in E. Providence on Newport Avenue. I see my personal trainer for the first time tomorrow. I hope he's not too rough on me! Good luck with your move!

Janet, I've been wondering what's going on with you lately! Glad your son let you use his puter! See you at the meeting this week?

Thanks for your support gals!
