DS with Dr. Sax or Dr. Harrington
I had a gastric stapling in 1982, lost 120lbs and gained it back. Have been morbidly obese for many, many years ...thought I had failed (and I guess I really had to some extent), but didn't have the skills to keep it off. So here I am now researching and I noticed that there aren't too many DS surgeons...wonder why! I just happened upon Drs. Harrington and Sax and saw that they did the DS. Didn't know of them or their reputation etc so I put it out on the board. From what I understand the DS brings about the best results.
Any thoughts?

A DS is a WLS surgery called a Duodenal Switch...it's much more involved than RNY or lap band and there are very few surgeons that do it. How are you doing? Tell me more about the person who had a band put over her RNY? That's what I'm really looking into.

Hi Pepsi,
I had Dr. Harrington for my RNY. I dont know what a DS is. But if it's what I think it is, I know someone who knows someone who had exactly what you had before, the stomach stapeling and gained all the weight back. This woman recently (5-6 months ago) had the lap band done and is losing quite a bit of weight. Is that what you're thinking of having? I dont know what a DS is.
Dr. Harrington is tough, Cbasketbear will tell you this too, right Claudia? He is very straight and very forward. He doesnt play games and gets right to the point. He also makes you wait a long time in the waiting room. He never ever sees his patients on time. He is into many different things at RI Hospital. He is also the head of Trauma at the hospital and deals with burn victims. He does have a PA who is very good. In fact, I am going next Tuesday for my 2 year appointment. Hopefully, I will see her. Not sure what her name is but I think its Cathy. Good Luck and me know what a DS is.

Hi Pepsi and Claudia,
I used to live in Norwich too! I lived at 206 Broad St for many years. I go to Backus for my Neurosurgeon and I had my youngest daughter there. I love that hospital! Great place!
Have a great day!
