How often do you weigh yourself?

  Hi All!

I have a confession...I am begining to feel a little discouraged.  I know that I am only 3 weeks out, but I have been weighing myself every day, and I haven't lost anything in 3 days.  I know that is petty, but I am scared that the RNY didn't work!  Crazy huh?  Did anyone else feel this way?  I am so inspired by all of the wonderful transformations that I keep reading about....HELP!!!!!  Should I only weigh myself once a week?  Any advice?  I am still only on a liquified puree diet, I get all of my protein, and fluids in (thanks Jules-I can't get Dory out of my head).  I am exercising--slowly, but I am doing it.  HELP!!!!

HI Aimee, You will find that your weight loss does some crazy things until you are back on real foods where - don't be surprised if you gain a little back.  This stage is about healing...  You shouldn't weigh yourself everyday, but I will confess that I do.  I actually track my weight loss on a spreadsheet and only count the weigh in on Saturday morning - a' natural and before I have eaten breakfast. You are doing fine....remember it didn't take you a week to gain your weight - and it will take more than a week to lose it.

Hey,    I know how you feel.  When I 1st got home I was on that scale daily.  try to keep off it a week at a time. That made me feel so much better.  Don't get to down about it trust me  the surgery works.  I am 2 month into it now  and have lost 72lbs as  of  last fri.  I only get on the scale now on fri.  Remember slow and steady will win this race.  Lisa

Danielle, and Lisa,

Thanks so much for the words of encouragement!  I know that I will be okay, but this is where I have been before with many, many diets and when I stop losing, I binge eat.  I can't do that now, and I am glad.  I just have to change my head to go along with my new insides.

Thanks Again!!!

Aimee

Hey Aimee!

Good to see you just keep sipping......sipping, sipping, sipping!  Blue Tang I am proud of you!

I just asked a very similar question on the RNY board yesterday (entitled plateaus).

I weigh every day too. I haven't had a BM (I know TMI) in eight days! I think this is why the scale doesn't seem to be moving. I have been taking Colace each night and Benefiber three to four times a day! And still....nothing!

Are you having any problems with this? I'm still doing liquifieds and pureeds and have started introducing seafood.  Crab I get all my liquids in....PLUS.

Anyway, you're doing a great job!

HIJACK!

Hi Jules!!! Just noticed how much benefiber you are taking, MAKE sure you up your water intake to balance it out. I've heard that from a few places before.

Hope you can Poo soon!!

Jules,

Thanks for letting me know that I am not alone!  I had the same problem, I took almost a whole container of Benefiber before I had any "results".  I find that the more I move around, the better things "move".  Frustrating I know, especially when you are feeling bloated, and uncomfortable.  I am also eating a little seafood.  I tried the baked fish mixed with red chowder broth.  I also ate a small crab leg---mmmmmm!  Any other suggestions for a liquified diet that are working for you? This is getting boring!  I also have low fat cheese and broccoli soup, and healthy request minestrone pureed of course!  Anyway, I just came back from a long walk down Colt State Park 1 1/2 hrs!!!  Pardon the expression, but I'm POOPED!!!

Gotta Go Sip....

Oh Aimee!

You're too funny! Belly Laugh

I'm getting pretty bored with this stuff too. Today I'm going to have canned beef barley soup (with veggies in it). I know I can have food like mashed potatoes and such but I don't want to fill up on carbs. I'm kinda afraid of moving forward. I bought some Hebrew National 97% FF Beef hot dogs and I have lean hamburger. I really want to feel more like the family and eat what they eat.

In time, we'll get there.

Please let me know how you do.

Hi Aimee and Jules.  I had both of those problems.  I had lap band on 4/1.  I still weigh myself several times per week.  I often plateau or go up a bit, but then drop a couple.  As long as the general direction keeps going down, don't get discouraged!  I was taking Benefiber 3X/day and drinking tons of water.  After my first checkup Dr. P. told me I could take Miralax and that helped some, but still wasn't a miracle cure.  Just starting to get back to normal now (three months today!).  Hang in there!
