I booked a flight to go visit my sister for a weekend. For the first time in a long time I am not worried about flying. The last time we flew (1 year ago), I almost had to get a seatbelt extender. I was so embarrased but I sucked in my stomach and suffered for hours. I cant wait to see how much extra belt I have. I am going to take a picture...

I posted another picture on my profile.....
Oh boy! Do I know that feeling!! I remember having to get a seat extender everytime I flew. I couldnt understand that my husband didnt need one and his stomach was bigger than mind....then I figured it out...his butt was smaller than mine. My butt and stomach took up all of the 18 inches they give you...yes people...18 inches is the standard seat size if you measure across. Thats what I read here on line. Anyways, it was humilitating just getting the attention of the flight attendant and asking for an extender...also trying to put the seat belt on and people staring at you when you cant get the belt to close. I used to keep trying to snap it on and it created some noise and people tended to look my direction. The last time I flew it was so wonderful..I didnt need it and felt pretty good. OH yes....the suffering I had in one of the Air Tran jets was that the seats were so small not only did I need the seat extender but the seat was so small that I had bruises on my thighs from sitting in such a tight space. That was only for 2 1/2 hrs..I can only imagine if I had to fly across country!
Thanks for reminding all of us how bad it was....it makes you think how good it is now.

Wow, that is great that you are so much smaller. I cant wait. I remember putting the belt on the last time I flew and it kept comming unbuckled. I was so much in denial that I insisted that the belt was broken. I finally got it to stay closed and I did not move for fear that it would come undone again. I had to lift up the arm rest too and use some of my hubby's seat. I acted like I wanted to cuddle but the reality was, I was toooo fat for MY seat!
