Plastic Surgery Advice
I never thought the day would come when I would be close enough to my goal to start planning plastics but, June 6 was my one year surgiversary and I have lost a total of 142 pounds. Only another 25 pounds and I will be in onesville. I can't believe I am that close!!! I expect that plastics on my legs, tummy and arms should remove another 20-30 pounds. Anything else I lose after that is pure gravy (forgive the food reference). I would be perfectly happy to be at 160 something. I am losing slowely but consistantly with a 6 meal a day plan which is high fiber and high protein. It keeps me very full.
I am looking for any advise on plastics. My biggest concern of course is the cost since I am healthy as a horse and none of it will be covered so, it's all out of pocket.....................ouch. I am also wondering how many procedures will be involved.
If you would share your plastics experience with me it would be very appreciated.
To those of you about to begin your weight loss journey, good luck, it will be the best thing you have ever done for yourself!!!!

I wish I could help out with advice for this. I haven't gotten that far yet. Have you tried the RNY forum? Or maybe the plastic surgery forum (if there is one)? Congrats on your weightloss and your PS plans!

Hi Elizabeth, Thanks for your imput. If you don't mind my asking, what does an abdominoplasty involve and how does it differ from a panni that I have heard people refer to? How long and painful was your recovery? And last if I am not getting to personal, was it all out of pocket and expensive?

From what I understand, the panni removes skin and fat that results from weight loss. An abdominoplasty does that as well, but also surgically tightens the abdominal muscles. Since I have had 2 C sections, gall bladder surgery, and an open r n y my muscles were very lax. The incision and scar are the same for both procedures, like a smile just above the pubic area that extends hip to hip. I had to pay $6000 for the plastic surgeon...worth every penny. I had hernia surgery at the same time, which should give me a break for the hopital anesthesia and operating room expense.
Pain was not a problem. It was an easy surgery, especially when compared to the r n y. I had the surgery 5 weeks ago and I still can't lift or do anything strenuous. I feel great.
Good luck.
