I went with the Flintstones chewable complete for my vitamin.  I actually got it at Sam's club so I'll be all set for a while.  It does down realy easy.  I got the calcium supplement at GNC. It looks like a wafer and is about the size of a quarter.  It's not too bad.   For Protein I am using Designer Whey in chocolate.  I bought the natural flavor at first becuase it mixes easy with diet punch or other clear liquids but I didn't like the taste.  As soon as I could have milk I switched to the chocolate and it is very good.  They have small packets of different flavors if you want to try first.   Also, GNC has a really good return policy.  You can return anything even if it is opened within 30 days and a receipt.  The downfall is that I went to two different GNC's and I found them to be a little too aggresive for my liking.  They were trying to sell me things I really didn't need, trying to convince me to get a better protein powder.  When I did return the natural protein powder, they tried their hardest to get me to buy something else.  I would have just got another chocolate, but she p'd me off so I just took the refund.   I picked the Designer becuase it has 20g of protein per serviing and only 100 calories.  You can check out their website first and also Vitamin World website so you know exactly what you are buying.  I did not feel comfortable asking them for help - one sales rep tried to seel me protein powder that is 65.00 and it had way too many calories for what we need.  So go armed wtih information!!!  He tried to seel me an 8.00 shaker cup when I got one at the dollar store that works just fine.  Let me know if you have any other questions - Good Luck!!!! Jen

Thanks for your input. I have the flintstones which I also purchased from Sam's. I have been putting off buying the protien powder as long as I can. Did you try the choc w/water? That is how the NUT told me to do the shakes during clear liquid phase.I am sure I will need advise from the nut on staff at the hospital. I thought I would have next weekend to do all my shopping but this time next week HOPEFULLY I will be home and banded!! WOO HOO.  Thanks

Jamie I didn't try the chocolate with water, but I don't think it would taste that bad at all.  I was actually surprised by how good it tasted with the skim milk (which is not that far from being water).

The GNC in the rhode island mall (by ccri)(Its one of the only stores left in the building) is pretty low key, the clerk only asked me if i need help once. I went- picked out a few items and then he asked me if i needed anything else. I said no and he said "okay" LOL it was nice and a shocker! For Protien I usually go with about 45-60 grams a day. (Less if I'm not going to the gym, as unused protein will be stored as fat) and I usually get designer whey chocolate. They have strawberry and vanilla too (vanilla is good cause you can spice it up with sugar free flavor syrups) I just got a new flavor they have mango orange or something to break up the monotony of chocolate chocolate chocolate. I also have gotten isopure. Its more like a clear liquid like a juice and its got 40 grams of protein in a 20 oz bottle. Pretty decent in a glass over ice. Supplements i do 2 childrens chewables with iron (walmart has equate for about 3 dollars cheaper than flintstones and its the same thing) and i was doing viactives, but the surgeon told me if i feel I'm getting enough calcium throughout the day then dont worry about those (The were getting stuck) I mix my proteins with skim milk, and usually have yogurt or cheese throughout the day.

A post op suggestion for you, keep some water at room temperature, your water intake is important and sometimes (At least for me) cold water would tighten up my stoma and I would be uncomfortable for an hour or so, the room temp water is fine right from the get go.

Hope at least some of this info was helpful
