Ideal Weight???

I have heard people mention their Ideal Weight, or Goal Weight in how much they have to lose.  I have no idea what I should actually weight.  2 wks b4 surgery I was 247 lbs and in a 22/24 womans size.  Now I am 221, just 2 weeks out and god knows what size I am at this point.  All I know is that I want to fit into my wedding gown again (size 14).  Anyone know any good websites where I can see a weight chart?  Not a BMI chart, I have that.  Any info at all would be helpful.

I based my goal weight of 130 by a healthier BMI (reflected in my ticker). I'm still not sure if my goal is 130, 140 or 150. Technically, I need to weigh 127 not to be overweight. I was told by a nutritionist in Jan of this year, who measured my wrist that I am big boned and probably won't get any smaller then 140-150. I'm not really sure but I think that puts me under being obese. I've come to the conclusion....those are all just number! I'll know when I'm at goal.

I'm not sure of a weight chart, but the post op planner will tell you what you're ideal weight for your height is. Its at http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/information/post+op +planner.php Keep in mind though, not everyone who weighs a certain amount carries it the same way. 160 on you may look completely different than 160 on someone else. So its more of less wherever you're comfortable. God Luck

This is a great website: http://www.halls.md/body-mass-index/bmi.htm
It has lots of links to charts that will let you calculate your ideal weight based on different recommendations.

I picked my goal because even though I am very tall, I also I have a very narrow frame, so I went with a good number for my frame size, not just a healthy BMI.

I picked my goal weight with Jeremy from Dr Pohls office.  Well he said 135 and Weigh****chers says 130 - I am shooting for 130...

I started out at 261 and My original goal was 148 but only because my older sister who has always been thin said I would never get below 150 because she had never been there.  I know it's immature but anyway.  I asked my surgeon what my ideal weight should be.  I'm 5' 7.5" and she told me that she would be happy with me at 170.  To tell you the truth when I hit that goal, I was happy and fitting into a size 8/10 depending on the store.  That was about 2 months or so ago and now I'm at 161...I'm not actively trying to lose anymore weight because I do weigh less than my older sister now but I guess my body will know when it's ready to stop losing.  I'm 10 months out now and the weight isn't coming off as quickly but it continues to come off.  I must add that from January to May I was running 6 days a week in preperation for the Providence half marathon.  I haven't run in 2 weeks and still drop a couple of pounds.  Hope this helps....your goal will probably change as you lose.  good luck

It's really strange that the two web site listed by two of our members show that I should weigh in at 154lb or 168.  My surgeon gave me a weight of 190lbs.  I am at 205lb and feel good.  I wouldn't mind losing a few more lbs to get down to 190 but it's getting very hard now to lose it as I had my surgery over 2 yrs ago.  My PCP was surprised that I had kept it down to 205lb as some of her patients that she recommended RNY have put some some  of their weight back on.  I just hope this doesnt happen to me....You really have to work at especially after a year has passed or more.  Food goes down really really well.  The weight that the doc wants me to be is substantially different that the web sites. I know that if I weighed in at the 160's I would not look good....I would look very very thin.  I have a very large frame.  I am in my early 60;s maybe thats why the doctor gave me that weight. Ths skin hangs so losely at this age...its creepy.....lol Carol b

Hi, me again.  Thanks for all the input on this subject.  I am going to check out the two websites mentioned above.  After I posted this, I looked back at the packet of info that I originally had received at my doctors seminar.  It says that a healthy BMI is between 23 and 26.  After looking at the chart, that puts me somewhere between 140 and 155 lbs at 5' 5".  I have never been in the single digit clothes sizes except maybe in elementary school....lol.  So we'll see what happens. Thanks again.
