Hi All,  I am 6 weeks post-op and this last week I have been having a really tough time.  My stomach has been rumbling alot and anything I put in my mouth will not go down easily except for the protein shakes.  It seems as soon as I eat something I get extremely nauseous.  I have been eating really slow,  taking in very small bites and making sure that the food is chewed to a very fine consistancy.  I have been eating mostly protein with a little carbs.  Usually mashed potatoes.  Anyone else have this problem.  I'm not sure if something is wrong or if this is just a phase you go through after surgery.  Up until now I have had a few episodes with food, but that was due to eating way too fast.  Help!!  Thanks,  Amy

Hi Amy! Sorry you arent feeling good.

What types of food are you eating? Are the foods you are eating high in Fat? If so, that could make you feel sick.

If you are eating sugar free, fat free and still having this problem, I would call Dr Pohl and check in with him. You could have a stricture... Definitely refer to your doctor!

Laura, Thanks for the reply.  I am eating sugar free, fat free and only drinking water and crystal light.  I was going to wait and see how I was feeling, however, I am planning to call the doctor tomorrow as I don't think I would consider this an emergency and the office is closed.  Amy

Hi Amy,  So sorry you've been having issues. I had the same thing though at a couple months out. For 5 days everything I ate made me nauscious, I actually ended up calling my Dr and telling him and he readmitted me because even water made me nascious. It turned it, my pouch was just being grouchy and the following day I was fine.  As long as you're able to hold things down and you're not in pain and able to get your fluids, I'd give it a day or so and see if it gets better. If not, then definately call your surgeon..and make sure to update us on how you're doing.

Angela,  Thanks for the quick reply.  I am visiting my family out of state.  I had planned on waiting until I returned home and too see if this feeling passed, but I think I'll call the doctor tomorrow.  I'm glad to know that others have experienced this and it probably isn't major.  I do however want it to go away so hopefully it is just a grouchy pouch like yours.  I am looking forward to meeting you at the next group meeting.  Amy
