Hi Danielle,
The best advice I can give you is to find your own pace. No matter how slow it is, don't try to keep up with others...you should be able to run at a pace where you can hold a conversation. If you're running alone, try singing to yourself or reciting a mantra like," everyday I'm getting faster and faster". If you can't do this without getting extremely winded...you need to slow down.
I started at a 15 min. mile by the end of training I could run a mile in about 12.5 min. Remember your only competitor is yourself...finishing is the goal. Good luck n I hope this helped

Hi Aracay,
Thanks for the warm and encouraging thoughts. I'm happy to hear that your hitting the gym...it truely makes a difference. Training did help me tremendously! Prior to joining Team in Training I was in the 190's and my weight loss had slowed down quite a bit. The day after the race I weighed 163 but soon put 2-4 lbs back on. Today, I'm at 161 and I haven't done any type of working out in over 2 weeks. Just been lazy and dealing with somethings. But I hope to continue running. I'm going to try my best to make it to this Thursday's group...hope to see you there. Landa
