It's coming together!!!

Hi Rob.  How are you.  I received a letter from my health insurance - BCBS of Alabama - saying they want to see proof of 6 consecutive months of a doctor supervised weight loss program.  Dr. Roye's office referred me to Dr. Pera.  Have you started that program yet? I am thinking of doing the 28 week full fast.  Is your health insurance requiring the same thing? Patty

Hi Patty, I had a couple of people say to me from the start..check, check and check again...with your insurance to see what is required...well I have called on three different times and asked am I required to provide any documents of a supervised weight loss program for a certain amount of time????   I got three NOs!  ha  Just a letter of pre-determination that I quality for the surgery.  Just to let you know Dr. Pera is going on vacation from I think the 6th-19ish...so if you are going to go that route call them ASAP to try to get a appointment. I think the health insurance will pay for a portion of the cost of the program but NOT for the drinks. I am going for the 20 week, I have been told most sign up for that plan and extended if necessary...

Hi again. When are you starting?  I went to the Orientation last Thursday and received a call yesterday.  If I am successful with this program I may not even have to have the surgery.  I guess either way it will work out.

Well I have my pysch eval on the 11th and have been told that I can start liquid right after that, so I can't give an exact date to you. Hey if you can mange your weight by this program alone and not need surgery, all the better!  I am not able to do that...I know I could lose a good amount of weight on this program...but I know that I would not be able to keep it off......hence the need for WLS...everyone is different!  -Rob
