Day 3 on Pre-Op Diet..
Hi Jules,
I can literally say I feel your "pangs" as I have been on a pre-op diet now for 11 days but I have no choice in the matter if I want to live free of gastric reflux. I keep focusing on that rather than the fact that I had a vertical banded gastroplasty (VBG) in 1987 and now am faced with the impending revision to RNY gastric bypass. I know that I had the VBG in 1987 to lose weight and now I have to lose weight to make myself a better surgical candidate for the VBG. Luckily, I have never gained all the weight back I lost with the VBG but thankfully surgeons are steering away from my particular type of surgery in favor of other more sensible options. In 1987 bariatric surgery was not as advanced as it is today.
I drink a lot of fluids too in order to keep myself hydrated and fill up those areas of my (is it my head or my stomach) "hunger pangs" but I steer away from anything containing aspartame or nutrasweet because as a neuroexcitotoxin, it stimulates my appetite. I drink a lot of water or unsweetened ice tea with splenda and that seems to be the thing that keeps me from "falling off" my liquid pre-op diet plan. The drawback to all that tea is frequent trips to the .
I wish you the best of luck and drink a big glass of water before you go through that buffet line.

I know how hard it is.... You can do this I know you can you are such a strong person. Your surgery will be here and done before you know it.!!! Keep your head up and keep smiling! Good luck at the wedding you will be okay I am sure of it. The thing that worked for me is I thought of how much easier the weight would come off after surgery if I lost a good amount before!!!. ****Hugs*** DD
A huge thank you to everyone! Please see my thank you post! Jules
