I can speek from experience although I did it over a month ago and I still have some time til my surgury. It is the demons inside of us telling us how good everything is and how we can never have it again.  And it tastes sooo darn good but you just have to take a deep breath and think of something else. Think of why you want to loose weight, picture yourself bending over and tieng your shoes without getting out of breath. Think about fitting into chairs with arms, Think about ALL the things that you want to achomplish with your new self and I guarentee you it will help. It is going to be a long hard road but hell arent't you up for the battle. You have a wonderful bunch of people here to support you and I know in a few weeks when I fall again someone will be here with there arm out helping me up.  I get through my weak spots with thoughts of chasing the kids around, not wearing a t-shirt over my bathing suit, and actually looking good next to my skinny husband. ALL those thoughts help me fight the demons and I hope it helps you. Goos luck with your pro-op diet and THROW ALL THE JUNK FOOD AWAY. If it is not avaliable you can't eat it.

Like Jamie, I did that a while back.  But then I got side tracked into having to rehearse for the future, and believe me, it gets easier once you get started and realize you feel better just by eating a healthier way.  Add some evercise in, even just a walk around the yard and you will be able to get back on track and ready for life post op.  Come on girlfriend, count your blessings and make the most of it!

Julie,  3 weeks before my surgery I was in Disney and couldn't get enough junk food in me.  The day before I started the pre-op diet I ate everything in site.  I think it is our way of saying goodbye to our food friend for now.  Know that you are not alone and once you start the pre-op diet just stick to it.  I had my surgery with Dr. Pohl on May 6th.  It was so worth it.  He knows what he is talking about.  You just need to get you head ready for this wonderful jouney you are about to embark on.  I'll be at the meeting tomorrow night and would love to talk to you.  I have red hair and will probably look a little lost as this is the 1st meeting I will be attending.  Keep you head up.  It only gets better from here.  See you tomorrow.  Amy

Sounds like pretty normal behavior to me!  You're in the "mourning" stage.  Change is hard! Perhaps this will help- I can eat anything!  I do need to watch amounts, esp. if sugar is involved.  But anything!  My sis also who had surgery. Good luck!  Just keep trying a day or even an hour at a time.  Everything will improve.

I think we all kind of go through this.  I did the same thing.  I was eating junk foods that I didn't even really enjoy.  Something snapped in my head telling me I was STARVING all the time.  I was like that for a day or two before I got back to reality and realized exactly what Eileen said.  It is not a goodbye to these foods forever.  You will still be able to eat things, just in smaller amounts.  Think of that great peanut butter pie last get together....and looking forward to Donnie's cookies. And where did all this junk food get you to anyway?  If it weren't for this enemy- would we all need to go through this and have so much of this emotional baggage?  You can do it.  Just blast Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive" from your stereo and belt it out along with her! (and now I have to get that stupid Susan Powter chick "Stop the Insanity" outta my head- lol)

Everyone! Thank you so much for replying to my post. I actually DID the Susan Powter diet years ago. I so desperately needed to read everything you all wrote to me. So far, I have read each of them twice. I will read it again and again. I am starting a goal list that includes: fit into chairs with arms, bend over (period), wear shoes that tie, stand up from a sitting position unsupported, walk without a cane, go to daughter's and grand daughter's softball games and sit on a higher bleacher, walk up and down stairs without support, etc. As a matter of fact, I'm going to make a post about this subject. Thanks again!  Love Letter Love yas!  Jules

I believe we all dealt with these feelings and actions. I also think we all need to get it out of our system by allowing it just alittle. You will come to a breaking point where you'll stop. Enjoying the foods is not a bad thing but try to gain some control.  Hugs, you will be just fine!

Hi Jules, I can so remember doing the exact same thing. I went to my 2 week pre-op appointment the heaviest I'd been, because of all the snacking on junk food that I did. I was soooo worried that I was going to get a phone call from Dr Pohl's office saying "that's it you gained weight and you can't have surgery!". But no phone call came (thankfully!!). With the two week pre-op diet, I lost about 13 lbs. Although, I still sat in the waiting room the day of surgery being afraid that they were going to cancel my surgery at the last minute! lol. Don't worry, you will get to where you need to be. Just use the next two weeks to focus on being healthier and the time for your surgery will be here before you know it. You're almost on the other side!   BTW - I look forward to seeing you tomorrow at the RW meeting :)
